Overview

Atyphe Vrydella Stargazer is a Corellian born and raised twi’lek. She grew up with two loving parents; her father (Dlerryn'Vrydella) the operator and owner of Vrydella Shipping and her mother (Aetra'Vrydella) a former musician and singer. Unknown to her at the time her parents operated as non-combatant, covert members of the Alliance. Her parents were tortured and killed by the Empire, but that fact was covered up by the Empire as a Rebel attack on their ship. Eventually joining the Corellia School of Arts in Coronet she made her way to Tatooine to start a life away from the Empire and Alliance. From there she fell in with Dune Sea Enterprises and more importantly, Rhyley Stargazer, with whom she would eventually fall in love and marry. Learning combat through hard knocks Atyphe would learn the truth of her parents’ deaths and the Rebellion and eventually discover her own force sensitivity.

History

The Early Years (Birth – 20 years)

Atyphe was born in Coronet, Corellia the home port of her parent's modest but successful freight business. From a very early age, as soon as she could reach the controls from the seat, she was taught how to fly. It became a passion for the young girl and she proved quite skilled, able to anticipate events as they unfolded. Though her parents were rarely home, they brought their daughter with them on trips and her mother saw to her education. The company freighters became the young girl's home. Her father had been a pilot most of his life and her mother, before marrying he father, had been an esteemed dancer/musician.

Possessing an inquisitive and adventurous nature, Atyphe was known to her family as the "Fearless Wind", though it was mostly a facetious title given to her in honor of the messes all too often left in her wake. The freighters became different worlds to her, playgrounds filled by her imagination. She envisioned them as the worlds taught to her by her mother, and just as often worlds of her own creation.

At the age of sixteen Atyphe caught a rare illness which put her in the hospital. The sickness was ill timed as a time sensitive delivery was due and both parents had to leave her hospital bed side. Her parent put off their trip for as long as possible, however, eventually they could delay no longer. Time became the deciding factor in what was to happen. Unknown to Atyphe, however, her parents were covert non-combatant operatives for the Alliance to Restore the Republic, often performing supply runs with food and medical supplies to various Rebel outposts. This supply run was of the utmost importance to the survival of a remote colony of refugees. Making use of a more dangerous and less known route, Atyphe's parents sought to save time. Upon exiting hyperspace, however, they found themselves in the midst of an Imperial trap. Their freighter was disabled and boarded with the two being taken into custody. The pair were questioned, tortured and then slain as part of the training of an inquisitor in training Telryn Mallarchus. Atyphe, herself, was told that her parent’s ship had been destroyed by a Rebel missile in a space battle. Atyphe never thought to question or investigate on her own the claims of the Imperial Officials when she was brought the news.

Aggrieved, Atyphe had little time to contemplate her loss. Selfish employees quickly took the company apart piece by piece, leaving little to Atyphe. She entered employment at Driscol's Cantina in Coronet. While not achieving any measure of fulfillment for her work, she had little choice but to take what was offered. After working at the cantina for approximately a year, the place was destroyed in a “terrorist” bombing. In truth it was a calculated plot by the Empire itself to stir up negative feelings against the Alliance. The evening of the explosion the cantina was a “target rich” environment, for it had been rented for the evening by a large group of Imperial Naval Officers. Atyphe was located in the very back of the building, in the storage rooms at the time of the explosion and was injured and knocked unconscious, rather than being killed. Rescued by the emergency squads she spent another time in the hospital, though her bills were taken care of by the Imperial Public Relations Officer. The P.R. officials saw an opportunity in the tear streaked face of Atyphe, as they asked her to describe the horrors she'd experienced for a holonet news broadcast.

Shortly thereafter, some of the freight companies missing assets were recovered and Atyphe sold the remainder for her tuition in the Coronet School of the Arts where she trained and learned for three years. Possessing the physical talents required for entertainment and the knowledge her Mother had already given her Atyphe succeeded in all manner of academics while in school. Her one major setback was her intense stage fright, often plaguing her for weeks prior to a performance. Her one saving grace was the dark nature of the performing arts theater. She could barely make out the faces in the audience.

While in school, the students often frequented the local cantinas. This is ultimately what led to Atyphe's belief that Tatooine would prove a good start to a new life. Listening to the tales of adventure spoken of by other students and the pilots that would often frequent the bars as well, Atyphe grew enamored with the idea of the desert planet. Tales were told of its great opportunity for enterprising souls and the excitement of the populace. As well she was told the most critical piece of information: It was free of the galactic civil war.

Arrival on Tatooine

The woman’s arrival on Tatooine was touched by shadow even before she had landed. Her heart sank as she noticed the Imperial blockade of the planet and its presence in the system. She believed that where the Empire was, so were the terrorists. A deep sense of foreboding filled her as her transport landed. Finding work to be scarce for a dancer, Atyphe used the remainder of her credits to purchase supplies and a landspeeder. She kept a small amount in reserve for emergencies, but realized that unless she found work she was stuck on Tatooine.

Questioning the local populace, Atyphe was to learn of a relatively safe and quiet town by the name of Outmian Yakta, though it was far into the Dune Sea. Some unknown instinct drove her toward the town. Perhaps it was the safe and clean descriptions or perhaps it was something more deeply rooted, but she journeyed out in her speeder, ignoring the dangers.

It was in Outmian Yakta that Atyphe was to meet Deianirrah, a woman that was to become her friend and counselor. Deianirrah, a member of the Dune Sea Enterprises band “All at Sea”, encouraged Atyphe. They spoke much of Atyphe’s stage fright and fear of dancing in front of groups of people. Deianirrah also introduced her to the existence of the company Dune Sea Enterprises (DSE), who owned and ran the town. Through conversation with Deianirrah, Atyphe’s passion for flight was rekindled. Something she had pushed aside for four years suddenly burst in flames within her. It was merely a mention of the fact that she liked to fly, a short sidestep in a conversation, but it proved to be integral in what was to come.

The Smuggler's Alliance

Filled with a reborn desire to fly Atyphe began to ask around about companies that might hire an experienced freight crewperson. Though many seemed interested in distance communications, upon seeing the young woman walk into their offices their viewpoints changed before her eyes and she found finding work to be harder than expected.

It wasn’t long, however, before less discerning employers contacted the young twi’lek. Davric, a front man for Talon Karrde had heard of the woman’s family business and quickly scooped up Atyphe with an offer she couldn’t refuse. Offering the loan of a ship and steady, good-paying work Atyphe quickly jumped on the opportunity. She managed to hide the less legal aspects of the job from herself, deluding herself in her desire to fly.

It was not long before Atyphe had earned enough credits to purchase an older dunelizard model starship, though she had to transfer the parts from her loaner scyk, remaining in debt. She named the dunelizard Memory, thus beginning a trend of ships named after concepts in her life. Eventually she would give Memory to Deianirrah as a gift for the encouragement the other twi’lek had given her.

It was not to long after beginning her work with the Smuggler’s Alliance that Atyphe had her first run in with trouble. While escorting a freighter through the Tatoo system they were set upon by pirates. Her other wing mate was taken down by the pirates, though Atyphe fought valiantly to hold the pirates at bay. The freighter managed to make the jump and escape, though Atyphe was left to fend off the pirates. Eventually a squad of three tie fighters showed up to engage the pirates. Trying to extract herself from the fight, Atyphe quickly kicked in the boosters to get away. However the pirates dogged the ship that had allowed their query to escape. Pursuing the young woman, she was left with no choice but to turn and fight. During this battle, her blaster shots narrowly missed one of the pirate ships and instead hit one of the tie fighters. She managed to take out the remaining pirates but soon found herself being fired upon by the Imperials. She ducked into an asteroid field to attempt to lose them, having no desire to enter into combat with the ties. This proved her “undoing” as the field quickly became too thick to traverse and she was forced to defend herself. Fearless among the stars where she was timid upon the sand, Atyphe made short work of the shieldless ties.

Quote: “Not good!” - Atyphe just after taking out the three ties.

The Imperials, investigating the disappearance of three of their fighters, made a list of those in Tatoo space at the time of the attack. Their belief was that their fighters had been lost to pirates, but in the ever increasing suspicion of rebel attacks they investigated, just in case. Atyphe’s name was put on a “To Question” list. Being informed of this by Davric she became worried. Not knowing what to do and fearing an Imperial “questioning” she turned to the only person she thought might help her, Deianirrah. The other twi’lek woman just happened to be in possession of ships logs that would show a simple freight escort. It was at this time that Atyphe was making the switch to her new ship, Memory. This enabled her to hire a slicer and fabricate a new scenario, where the pirates fell upon the tie ships while she made an escape. Handing over this data to the 225th, the matter was brought to a close and official records show that the three tie pilots were brought down by pirates. Atyphe was surprised at the ease with which disaster was averted, the incident driving her further along the road to regaining her boldness. The only price asked of Atyphe for Deianirrah’s help was that she work for her by performing in her stead during a DSE cantina night. However this was mostly a ploy to try and get Atyphe out of her shell.

It was not long before the skill of the young woman as a pilot became evident, and her services became in demand. Eventually her piloting was to draw the attention of Jabba, who coerced Talon Karrde into hiring her out. By this time Atyphe has realized what and who it was she was working for, and though she found the manner of work distasteful, she was in debt.

Despite the rather rough and dangerous conditions of Jabba’s palace, Atyphe still excelled. Disguised, often merely by her flight helmet, Atyphe kept to herself and did her jobs quickly and efficiently. With a constantly growing bank account Atyphe’s debts were smothered in her success, yet this drew attention from Jabba’s pilot masters. They knew that without some form of hold on the pilot she was likely to seek more legitimate work. It was this very fear that drove them to place an offer she couldn’t refuse before her, though it was disguised as a non related merchant deal. An older, but in good condition Ixiyen fast attack craft was to find itself in Atyphe’s path, but just out of reach of her credit account. Once again drawing upon her “benevolent” employers Atyphe purchased the ship. It was at this time that Memory became Deianirrah’s own. Once again in debt Atyphe was forced to work for Karrde and thus, Jabba, longer.

It was during this period of her work with Jabba that Atyphe was able to gain a measure of her old confidence back. Being faced with a job that Atyphe could not fool herself into thinking moral, the twi’lek woman put her foot down. Furious at being refused the pilot masters sent the young woman before Jabba. Amused that the seemingly meek Atyphe possessed a spine after all, Jabba did not have her killed. Instead he provided her with a cleaner, and higher paying job. It was this job that was to be the endpoint of her work for Talon Karrde and Jabba. Having previously submitted her resume to DSE, she was to be offered a position among its pilots.

Joining Dune Sea Enterprises

Meeting Caerwynn Royce at one of the DSE hosted cantina nights, Atyphe was introduced to Tarrik Sunstrider. After a short talk Atyphe was given the opportunity to join the squadron. Only just now meeting many of the other employees of the company Atyphe had not had a chance to audition and thus was unable to perform as Deianirrah had hoped. However, Atyphe’s foot was now wedged in the DSE door. It was also during this evening that Atyphe would meet Rhyley Stargazer, who was to become a good friend, and eventually her husband.

The Entertainer

It was not long, due to the shortness of entertainers for All at Sea, the DSE band that Atyphe was given an opportunity to perform. Her first performance was on the Nalargon, one of her best instruments. As it was also her first real performance in front of a crowd while not a student playing the nalargon gave her a bit more confidence. However, she still kept her eyes closed during the performance; something that did not truly hinder her playing in any way.

Her performances continued on various instruments over the weeks. Other members also joined the band though, most were dancers, which limited Atyphe’s chances of actually getting to dance for the band. It was during All at Sea’s tour on Lok that Atyphe was made a full member of the band and given her uniform. This was truly a proud moment for the young woman as it affirmed her musical ability and raised her confidence level.

Atyphe also began to write music of her own, emboldened by her experiences during All at Sea’s performances. Her first song was “inspired” by the behavior of Outmian Yakta’s Doctor, Eleyenora Roseward. It was a satire, categorizing the woman’s flaws, and written in Ryl. She felt the song’s performance in Ryl was fitting due to the Doctor’s dislike of twi’leks. Performing the song for Deianirrah, the woman counseled Atyphe on the need for patience in the song’s performance. Both agreed that it would require the right timing for the song to truly have any effect other than offense.

With her satire shelved for the time being Atyphe wrote two more songs, and with ideas for more yet. She hopes to get the opportunity to dance and perhaps even sing her songs in front of an audience.

Atyphe’s confidence has been boosted greatly by her experiences in Outmian Yakta. Though she knows she will be quite nervous her first time dancing and even more so the first time she sings she is eagerly awaiting her chance.

It was not long after her encounters with the salvagers and the pirates that Atyphe finally made her dancing debut. Realizing that many of her fears were rather unfounded she decided, upon arriving late and finding all the other positions taken, that she would dance. However, not only did she dance, she performed two of her songs, Driven and Hateful Love. From what Atyphe could tell her songs went over well with the audience. Thus emboldened Atyphe resolved herself to write more songs, and perform these as well.

It was with a very heavy heart that Atyphe has, for the most part, set aside her career as an entertainer. Feeling that she has a duty to concentrate her energies upon bettering the galaxy and the Rebellion in general, Atyphe decided to step away from her membership in the DSE band. Though she feels as if a large portion of her is missing in doing this and she fears she shall regret it the rest of her life, however Atyphe sees no other recourse. The troubles within DSE and the galaxy as a whole were more pressing.

The Pilot

After attaining a position in the Ghost Squadron Atyphe wasted no time in finishing up her qualifications. Shortly after her acceptance she attained her quals in the Belbullab-22, but did not stop her rise there. With the help of Talon Karrde’s people, grateful for her work during her tenure with them Atyphe finished all her major quals in an exceedingly short time. Her natural ability as a pilot as well as her long experience with her own family’s business helped her earn her rights to fly most vessels.

Still possessing a fair amount of credits from Jabba’s last few jobs Atyhpe came upon a YT-1300 freighter for an almost irresistible price. Despite the fact that the ship was gutted she went through with the purchase. On her own she quickly set about renovating the ship’s outsides and insides, making it ready for its maiden voyage. However, her purchase left her close to credit-less once again. She was forced to rig a rather unconventional setup to get the ship going for it’s first voyage as Genesis. It was not long before she was given an opportunity to use the ship, being chartered by Talon Karrde to transport some legitimate, but highly lucrative goods. Atyphe jumped at the opportunity to perform the service, needing the credits to further her goals. This voyage earned Atyphe enough to purchase her own Belbullab-22 which she would use when flying escort with the company. It also enabled her to purchase a home of her own within Outmian Yakta. A just as lucrative second venture enabled her to fully outfit Genesis with top of the line equipment as well as a toy; an AV-21. Atyphe then dropped out of the freighter captain scene for a time, wishing to concentrate on her work within DSE.

Though she had flown a few escorts within DSE, Atyphe was longing for more involvement. Seeming all business and little comradery it was hard for her to get a grip around Ghost Squadron. She almost felt like she was in limbo for a time. During this time Atyphe met Nasnomei, a bothan woman with boundless energy. Nasnomei, like Atyphe, had few credits and wished to become a member of the squadron. Her own background was similar to Atyphe’s in that she had grown up among freighters, though lacked experience in fighters.

This was all to change shortly thereafter. Tarrik Sunstrider stepped down as the Commanding Officer of Ghost Squadron, naming Atyphe’s friend Rhyley as his replacement. Rhyley wasted no time in making sweeping changes to the squadron adding a new uniform, rank structure and overall organization. He was to concentrate on company loyalty and professionalism in all things. As well, Atyphe was named a Lieutenant Commander among the squadron, ranking third in the chain of command. While quite shocked at Rhyley’s choice, Atyphe was determined to make good on the trust placed in her. The young twi’lek was somewhat nervous, never having had to lead others before, but she took to the task with devotion. Atyphe was also placed in charge of training Nasnomei up in the flying of fighter craft. However, Atyphe has suspicions that Nasnomei was somewhat more competent that she was letting on. Either the bothan had a rich talent when it came to flying or not all was as it seems. Though Atyphe considered Nasnomei a friend she also decided to keep an eye on the energetic woman.

Beginnings of Strife

Shortly after the reorganization Atyphe was to lead a team of pilots on a simple delivery to Coronet, Corellia. In her team were Nasnomei, who would fly operations with Atyphe in a YT-1300. Flying wing were Abaim and Sentar’a. Bai’yle, a friend of Rhyley’s and member of the squadron also accompanied the team. As far as the mercantile aspects of the mission went, it was an easy success, as all pilots performed their duties admirably. However, on their way back to the starport from meeting with their client in the cantina they were set upon by pirates. Only just escaping serious injury they ducked behind a nearby building and quickly made their way back to the starport and into space, to return to Tatooine.

Rhyley had disappeared for a time of two weeks. His claim was that he was investigating new clients, though Atyphe was a little hard pressed to accept the story he told. She looked into his flight records and compared them with his business reports on the clients he had met with. She quickly realized he had visited Corellia much more than needed. This wouldn’t have alarmed her, however, had their altercation on Corellia from weeks previous not happened. Instead of letting the matter drop she confronted Rhyley about it. She learned that he was planning on taking on this pirate organization that had shot at his pilots. Learning of his plans, Atyphe demanded to go along and an argument ensued. Eventually Rhyley spoke of the source of his reluctance in letting the woman participate, his love for her and his need to protect her. Despite being completely shocked by the revelation Atyphe pressed the point, and said she would be going one way or the other. A fit of her older, bold nature coming through, Atyhpe kissed the Commander on the cheek before sweeping from the headquarters before he could say a word otherwise.

Shortly after this occurrence two other pilots would be dragged into the quagmire. Though she knew it was dangerous for those involved she felt that the other pilots had a need to at least know why they were shot at and what was planned to prevent it in the future. Atyphe’s confidence in this belief was affirmed when Nasnomei spoke of her fear of being shot at again. With Nasnomei and Abaim at her side, Atyhpe confronted Rhyley again. Dragging more information about his plot from him, the other decided they would come along as well. Rhyley put up a valiant effort to dissuade them, but it was wasted energy falling upon deaf ears. Eventually he relented and it was decided they would meet in two days time to make their way to Corellia.

The day in question arrived, however, as Atyphe made her way the short distance from her home to the Cantina she found a welcome committee. A group of the pirates had been staking out the city, looking for some leverage to use against the group of pirates. Coincidentally they knew little of the planned attack, though they had an inkling that Rhyley was up to something. Abducting the twi’lek woman they took her to a compound located in northern Talus. Atyhpe spoke against her captors and demanded release, thinking little of the danger to her own life and the blasters aimed her way. In effect this proved the breaking point for the last vestiges of her timid nature, her anger driving away any fear.

Not far behind Atyphe and her captors was the group headed by Rhyley. Perhaps half a day behind Atyphe was not to wait long for her rescue. She was placed in a cell for later questioning while the pirates saw to other matters and discussed just what it was they wanted to do with the twi’lek. Before the decision could be made, however, the group consisting of Rhyley, Tarrik, Nasnomei, Abaim and Sentar’a fought through the compound pirates and burst into Atyphe’s holding cell area. Shocked at finding her there they quickly found a way to free her. Rhyley, in a fit of rage left without thinking, having gained the location of their landing base. Tarrik traveled with him, leaving those remaining to scramble after.

The slower group caught up with Rhyley and Tarrik as they overlooked the landing site from hiding. The pirates were more than numerous, outnumbering the pilots by at least five to one, and were in possession of a rancor. The idea of using a diversion and attacking from multiple sides was formed. Atyphe, taking a thermal detonator grenade snuck as close as she could to the site and lobbed the device onto the top of the YT-1300 that was the predominant feature of the landing site. At the time of the explosion the pilots attacked the pirates as their attention was drawn from their tasks at hand. In the confusion the DSE pilots were able to overcome the pirates. With a large head start Atyphe fired upon the rancor, angering it and proceeded to sprint for her life as her fellow pilots took it down under a hail of blaster fire. Atyphe, a little too emboldened by their success entered the YT by herself and came under fire by the two pirates located within. A grenade was thrown and Atyphe was hit in the side by shrapnel as she dove for cover. Her armor saved her life but some metal still managed to pierce her side. Quick emergency medical treatment that the twi’lek had foreseen the need to bring supplies for prevented serious injury and a dangerous amount of blood loss. A complete success as far as the group saw, the pilots made their journey home.

Lured Into Security

The false sense of security instilled in the pilots after their successes however would be quickly shaken in a matter of weeks. While on what was meant to be a mundane run to Dantooine the YT-1300 freighter the pilots were using experiences a hyperdrive and communications failure. The fighter escort led by Atyphe speeds past and exits hyperspace to find the freighter is not with them. Quickly backtracking systems they located and aid the freighter as it is being attacked. The capable crew of the YT quickly gets it back in running shape and continues the mission. This does, however, raise disturbing questions for the pilots. Why would an engine fail so spectacularly when maintenance had just been performed upon it? Their thoughts turn to sabotage and they quickly launch an investigation.

As well, shortly thereafter, a bomb planted in the squadron headquarters completely destroys the building and fire threatens to spread despite the sand in between it and nearby buildings. Through quick thinking and hard efforts of many of the town’s citizens the fire is contained and then snuffed out in a barrage of sand. This coupled with the possible YT sabotage sends the pilots reeling to figure out what is going on.

Prior to Atyphe’s disappearance she had acquired a vaksai attack ship. A jewel in the rough, a junk dealer did not recognize the wreckage in his salvage yard for what it was due to severe scorch marks and some frame damage. Atyphe gave him more than he was asking to allay any guilt and set upon refurbishing the ship quietly. When it was completed she had it moved discretely to Jabba’s starport, paying quite handsomely to have the entire ordeal kept quiet. She now keeps the ship in reserve for future use.

Atyphe became less directly involved in the DSE conflicts and affairs before her disappearance. This was in large part to her involvement with the Rebellion, but also due to the fact that she had aspirations of restarting the family freight business. Doing pro bono runs for the Rebels running food and other supplies and legitimate cargo as well Atyphe found her time was quickly being taken up with these new activities. Though she though it might be fairer to resign from her position within DSE, Rhyley refused as she still performed many duties within the organization. Though she is an excellent pilot and her leadership skills grow, Atyphe worries that some may think she has only attained her position due to her relationship with Rhyley.

A Death Sentence

Atyphe urged Rhyley into using the same slicer that had once saved her from trouble with the Emipre. The object to be sliced was a data disk discovered among the pirates on Talus. As well, after the sabotage on the YT and the destruction of the headquarters Atyphe pushed Rhyley into talking with her one time employer Talon Karrde. She knew these actions would send rippled in the underworld. These ripples would reach the ears of an information broker such as Talon Karrde.

It wasn’t until after an attack upon Outmian Yakta by twenty aggressive humanoids near the mall that Rhyley and Atyphe were able to talk to Karrde. Travelling to the Lucky Despot in Mos Eisley the two confronted the information broker and smuggler. It was then that he detailed the depths of the troubles that faced them. Reeling in shock at Karrde’s words the two spoke afterward. They had a datadisk with implications of six different underworld groups that sought the company’s destruction. Atyphe knew that even one of the groups would likely be the end of the company, but six was truly a death sentence. The list included Sennex, Borvo, Shadow, Valarian and Binyare, with implications of the Black Sun. Rhyley spoke that he believed the groups wished to weaken Jabba and the Hutts by gaining a hold on the company and its wealth.

The many various attacks and trials of this period are to have a profound affect on the young twi’lek. They test Atyphe’s mettle and confidence upon the battlefield in new ways with each occurrence

The capture of Deianirrah, Caerwynn and Cravon were the first of the major events to truly drive home the direness of the situation. Less emotionally attached to the two major players of DSE Atyphe’s major concern was for her dear friend Deianirrah. The first in a series of events leading to the labeling of Atyphe as ruthless occurs shortly after learning of Deia’s capture. The leads took a group of DSE employees to a Valarian outpost where they were met with resistance. Driven to anger and by a sense of loss Atyphe charged headfirst into the Valarians, wiping them out with the help of the other DSE employees. Her actions forced them to proceed along with her. Afterward, upon learning they had been duped, Atyphe felt a profound guilt at her actions. Not only had she put her comrades in danger, she gunned down those that, while by no means innocents, had not perpetrated the crime.

The rescue of Deianirrah, Caerwynn and Raedan at various occasions from the hands of the multitude of underworld groups arrayed against them taught Atyphe much of combat and warfare in general. Fighting against all odds for survival became the word of the day for many months. Desperate times called for desperate measures (Yeah, yeah, cliché I know.).

The attack on Outmian Yakta by the Valarian forces was another defining point for Atyphe. Forced into leading the combat forces of the city against the Valarians due to the fact that Rhyley and Raedan were undercover among these same forces, Atyphe had her first experience of sole leadership, and against what seemed like hopeless odds. Quick thinking by those like Qookvat helped to save the ragtag band. His idea to use his weaponry to rig explosions to knock down the enemy numbers was pivotal in the winning of the day. This experience, and the lack of real Imperial aid, only served to strengthen the lack of confidence Atyphe had in the Empire.

Atyphe was involved in much of what was to occur in DSE’s desperate fight for survival, though with the approaching Kraytmas season her work with the Rebel Alliance served to lower her level of direct activity in events.

Another major relationship change for Atyphe was that with the Doctor Eleyenora Roseward. Having seen Deianirrah on multiple occasions attempt to make roadways with the Doctor and basically receive the same scorn, Atyphe became embittered at the Doctor. As a Doctor the woman was included in many of the missions, especially that in attempting to rescue Caerwynn from the Imperial Tail’a Deymous. The Doctor’s words and scorn served as a distraction to the twi’lek and more than once Atyphe threatened the Doctor’s well being. The Doctor freezing up with the assault on the Dathomir Prison was a final straw, causing Atyphe to leave the Doctor and Deianirrah behind in order to prevent the failure of the mission. Though the decision to leave Deia was the hardest she had ever had to make, reflection upon them only leads her to the same logical decision. This action and Atyphe’s beliefs were to be a sour point in her friendship with her fellow twi’lek.

Quote: “Doc, I have a torch back on my ship. The next time you use that word I’m going to get it and weld your lips together.” – Atyphe to Eleyenora Roseward after the doctor had called Deianirrah a lek.

An Artist Errant’s Whirlwind Galactic Tour

On the way back from a particularly poignant visit to an Alliance refugee camp Atyphe was set upon by a once rival from her time in the employ of Jabba, Gevin. Though not altogether bright the rival pilot did know of the troubles DSE was having with the Black Sun. In what would be a fortunate turn of events for the twi’lek, Gevin’s only contacts within the organization was a small and poorly funded branch of the organization. Atyphe was distracted during her return trip home, her thoughts dwelling upon what she had seen in the refugee camp. This enabled the somewhat intrepid band of pirates to sneak up upon the Genesis before she could be discovered. A small squad of ships coming out of hyperspace at just the right time ensured that there was no means of escape.

Atyphe turned out to be more trouble than she was worth however. Fending off the more offensive assaults with her ferocity, Atyphe instead took repeated beatings until too many of the small band’s members were injured in turn. Atyphe was surprised that they let her live, but in time they came to keep her locked in a small cell in solitude. In order to throw off any pursuit she was moved from safe house to safe house every few days. The Black Sun were disgusted by what they saw as a lost opportunity, and a venture that was more trouble than it was worth, and Gevin found himself on the wrong side of an airlock. Atyphe was sold into slavery to help subsidize the growing cost of the pirate operation.

Atyphe’s first “master” was an insipid art collector with a taste for the gaudy. Thinking to purchase himself what he hoped was a pretty empty headed dancer for what he saw as a steal instead he received numerous verbal and physical assaults by the outraged twi’lek. The man had been born into money and sheltered for a large portion of his life, and was horrified at what he saw as uncouth, violent behavior. It wasn’t long before Atyphe was left to sit in her locked room while the man tried to find a replacement buyer.

Quote: “What. The. FRELL!” – Atyphe while looking at herself in a mirror while wearing a gown given to her by her art collector “master”.

The second man to purchase Atyphe was shocked at how little the seller (one shady seeming art collector) asked for the twi’lek. From his reckoning such a fine looking twi’lek should have sold for much much more. His first glance at Atyphe’s face, however showed him the reason for this. The pilot stood in a cage glaring thunderously at all the potential buyers. Many had already left with disgusted comments of “unbroken” or “clearly not worth the trouble”. The biologist, however, saw what was a chance to do a good deed and perhaps earn enough gratitude from Atyphe that she might become his research assistant. It wasn’t long before the pilot realized why the man was having a hard time finding such an assistant. The scientist’s actions were not completely altruistic, however. Atyphe was left in restraints until the duo had reached their destination, a swamp world in a secluded sector of the galaxy. It was not until they had landed that Atyphe was freed, at which point she was stuck until the conclusion of the man’s research. However, this venture was not to last long. It took as long as the completion of the setting up of base camp before Atyphe realized why all others had refused to consider working for the man. As he spoke the words to free the twi’lek a rather gargantuan creature impaled the scientist as it barged into camp. Quickly devouring the scientist it began to pursue the already fleeing dancer.

Atyphe’s rescue came in the most unexpected manner. An old robed man with a lightsaber appeared just as Atyphe was beginning to lose the ability to flee for her life. Slaying the beast, he introduced himself merely as Det. He said he was a hermit just wanting to escape the hatred and evils of the galaxy. When asked about the lightsaber he would claim that it was just something he’d picked up in his travels from a slain jedi. Though Atyphe had her suspicions about the tale, she did not pursue the matter. The pair traveled back to the sight but found the reason Atyphe had actually been able to outpace the beast for so long. It had completely destroyed the site, including the starship. Left with little choice the twi’lek joined the hermit’s daily life of mere survival, living in a crude tent in a relatively dry spot. It was a number of weeks that she helped in the search for food and in keeping the roaming beasts from finding the camp. The man was kind, but kept generally to himself. He did teach Atyphe a little of hand to hand combat, however. He said that it might be necessary as he had no blaster or lightsaber to give her. The teachings concentrated on disabling beasts quickly, however he also gave lessons on fighting humanoids as well, which Atyphe found curious.

The reason for the teachings became clearer after almost a month of living with the hermit. He was not the only sentient being on this planet he finally confessed to Atyphe. The true reason he was here was to root out a cult of dark force users that had been plaguing the region for some time. He’d fought and defeated a number of them, but there were still a few of the strongest left. It was then that he revealed his identity as a former jedi knight, having come to trust that the twi’lek’s moral compass was pointing in the right direction through subtle testing. With the fall of the Republic he had been pursuing this group as it also served to keep him hidden from the bounty hunters of the Empire. Atyphe had come to appreciate all that the hermit had done for her and offered her aid in helping him complete his task. The gesture was not lost on the hermit, though he knew she had little choice as they would kill her alongside him if given the chance. The two formulated a plan of defense, knowing they would be attacked before too long. The plan was for Det to disarm one of them and allow Atyphe to handle him while he handed the rest. The battle itself did not go according to plan. Never having seen people fighting with the force Atyphe was awestruck at the sheer speed and ferocity of the combat. Atyphe barely had time to register how outmatched she was even in hand to hand combat before she lost consciousness.

Atyphe’s next memories were of darkness. Intense darkness with no relief became her closest companion. Most of what Atyphe knows of this period had to be extracted from psychologists after the fact. In truth she holds no memory of consciousness during this period of time. Those doing the diagnosis know that there is about a two week gap between her memories of the hermit (she kept the jedi and the dark force users to herself out of loyalty and respect) and of survival in the cavern. The best she can tell is that they are merely repressed memories of becoming the feral creature the Alliance forces found in the Imperial Prison Cavern while raiding it. Atyphe and the Alliance doctors are still concerned with the period, as they still know nothing of how she came to be in the cavern, nor if there was any “indoctrination”.

The caverns constantly echoed with the various denizens and screams, moans, laughter, muttering voices and even noises not easily classified filled the air with no cessation. The keepers of the prison only left a set amount of food each day for the prisoners, leaving them to fight and kill each other in order to survive. Cannibalism was a common practice and Atyphe marvels at how she survived from what little she could gather from the Alliance troops’ stories. The purposefully would not tell the twi’lek some of the more gruesome stories. Recovered memories revealed Atyphe had degenerated into an animal state, acting on instinct and subconscious in order to survive. One particular memory was of a man waking her from a tenuous sleep in an attempt at kissing her. The man having given in to base animalistic urges allowed Atyphe to escape by ripping out his tongue with her teeth. Her memories of the occasion are basic and vague, but she remembers the sheer drive to survive and protect herself and her food.

Despite the twi’lek’s athletic form and intelligence (animal cunning in this case), the truth of the matter is that without her latent force abilitys’ help she would have died in those caverns. Lending her increased senses, speed and strength she was able to outmatch many of the larger more powerful denizens of the caverns. The troops failed to tell Atyphe that she was one of the few remaining survivors in the caverns. The fact that the other beings in the prison had migrated as far as they could from Atyphe’s chosen area leads many of those that studied the place to believe that Atyphe had slain the majority of those in the cavern out of self defense and in competition from food. They also know that Atyphe never degenerated into cannibalism, the only traces of nourishment being the food the Imperial guards were putting into the caverns.

Though they know of Atyphe’s martial successes with DSE this strange occurrence baffles the Alliance. Labeled in the reports as miraculous, the Alliance has vowed to keep an eye upon the twi’lek. Though the psychologists are worried about the black period in Atyphe’s memory their analysis all points toward Atyphe not being a threat. Her relatively quick recovery from the mental trauma has them heartened but it leaves them with many questions. However the recovery was arduous in the beginning. At first Atyphe was only coaxed into sentience in a child-like state. However, from there she rapidly found herself once again. Atyphe soon began to demand to return home and they saw little recourse but to allow it in light of her seeming relatively complete recovery. Three weeks after her return from the caverns Atyphe was released. However, dispatches were sent to Rhyley and the other regional Alliance commanders to keep a close watch on Atyphe

Atyphe as a result of her time in the prison took medications to calm her nerves and suppress any potentially violent reactions she might have. She also took pills to allow her to sleep soundly at night, undisturbed by nightmares of her buried memories.

Homecoming

Atyphe returned home with a heavy feeling in her stomach. Her emotions a mixture of elation and fear, Atyphe returned to find that the starport clearance codes had changed. A meeting with Kileo revealed that Rhyley had been harmed in an attack and had lost an arm. Resisting the urge to that moment leave the woman behind to find her love, Atyphe forced herself to be led to him. A still weakened Atyphe collapsed under Rhyley’s load upon their reunion, and though it was subdued by the recent tragedy it was joyous, nonetheless.

The sidelong glances and quiet whispers when she is about have also tainted Atyphe’s return. Altogether used to knowing the distrust she had felt at new arrivals in the town, Atyphe couldn’t blame their reactions, though they stung her regardless.

Through speaking with various people within Outmian Yakta, but mainly Raedan and Rhyley, Atyphe has managed to patch together a vague accounting of what has transpired during her absence. She is dedicated toward lending a hand in whatever manner she might, though part of her yearns to quickly resolve the issues of the company so that she might more fully serve the Alliance. Atyphe was particularly saddened upon learning of the death of Max. She recalled that their last dealings prior to her disappearance had been rather heated and regretted that she had not fully conveyed her friendship to him.

Atyphe returned to Outmian Yakta renewed in some ways, though her trials weighed heavily upon her psyche. She has vowed to look at things in a new light and attempt to help the others in a better manner. Knowing that at times she had been harsh with what she saw as incompetence she has vowed to instead attempt to inspire the reverse rather than demand it.

The Empire

Having always easily swallowed the propaganda of the Empire, Atyphe was generally content with the state of things. She believed the Rebellion to be power-hungry and violent. This belief began to erode, however, under the events that transpired within the town perpetrated by the local garrison, the 225th.

The first event shaking her belief in the order of things was the beating of the Doctor Eleyenora Roseward. For speaking out against the DSE CEO’s marriage to the commanding officer of the 225th, the Doctor was taken, under the guise of speaking out against the Empire. From there she was severely beaten. Atyphe, who had always deeply disliked the Doctor for her behavior and anti-twi’lek thoughts began to feel pity instead.

The second event and what was to become the breaking point of her views was the threat of death for her good friend Deianirrah. A group of citizens had spoken harshly with a local Imperial trooper. As a result the trooper had filed a complaint. When the citizens in question were rounded up for questioning one citizen in particular spoke out against their right to question her. Nora, a synth droid working with the 225th ordered Deianirrah dragged outside and put at gunpoint. Atyphe watched as one of her closest friends stood close to death, a cadet’s E-11 pressed to her head. Only through supreme effort did the twi’lek woman not draw her weapon and fire at the cadet. The event deeply shook her friend, the aftereffects evident for weeks afterward. It was then that Atyphe began to question the Emipre in earnest.

The third event was to be the final straw. Finally bringing the citizens in for questioning Melai was chosen as a scapegoat after the droid Nora tricked Abaim into implicating Melai. Melai was then taken into public and beaten severely. A small group of citizens spoke of the matter after Melai was well enough to leave the medical center. Their thoughts and words passed the border of treason.

Atyphe’s experiences with the Alliance refugees and in the imperial prison as well as the actions of the imperial enemies of DSE have hardened her heart against the tyrannical government. Her conviction that this wrongful and evil governing body should be overthrown would be hard to strengthen further.

The Rebellion

The actions of the Imperial troops in Outmian Yakta have given Atyphe severe doubts about their benevolence. No longer able to merely play off the xenophobic behavior toward aliens as the ramblings of a mere few and questioning deeply their belief in justice and right Atyphe has begun to wonder where else they have lied. Feeling something isn’t write the twi’lek woman hopes to discover what truly happened to her parents. A strong desire to discover the truth rather than the official report has been instilled within her. Rhyley has promised to look into the matter for her among some Alliance contacts.

Learning of the likeliness of her parents being dead, tortured as Rebel collaborators, Atyphe has thrown in her lot with the Alliance. She remembers well the wisdom of her father and his moral outlook on life and the galaxy. Knowing in her heart that the cause of the Alliance is just and that her father most likely chose with wisdom and compassion Atyphe is without any doubt that the right path lies with the hopeless cause of defeating the Empire.

Atyphe has been assigned with Rhyley within a special operations branch of the Rebellion. Though she wonders if this is a good thing Atyphe readily serves. Part of her feels she will not be able to spread her wings as capably while tied so closely to Rhyley. Not quite wanting to request assignment with a different unit Atyphe has instead taken to running supply missions with her freighter, Genesis at the cost of fuel and maintenance.

Atyphe is even more loyal to the Alliance following her period of disappearance. Their rescue of her from the prison caverns has induced a feeling of indebtedness she does not believe she’ll ever be able to repay. Atyphe yearns to end the problems plaguing DSE quickly in order to concentrate more on the Rebellion.

Love

The words of Rhyley proclaiming his love for her echoed in her head. She’d never even kissed anyone other than her parents, yet here was a man claiming that he loved her. She didn’t know how to react, and was unsure of her own feelings. The idea of a relationship, until this time, had never even occurred to her, her thoughts and eyes set upon her goals. However, events were to prevent any further advances in this regard until after the headquarters was destroyed and Melai’s beating.

Talking in Atyphe’s home, Rhyley once more spoke of his feelings for the twi’lek woman. Time and events had given Atyphe time to reflect upon her own feelings. Despite her inexperience she realized that she too, loved the reckless young man that claimed to love her. After such proclamations the two grew closer as they delved into their pasts and spoke of the future. Even in the chaos and violence of events the two were able to create some small island of happiness.

Atyphe’s relationship with Rhyley is a fiery and passionate affair, both of the people having strong personalities. Though Atyphe’s actions are tinged with more prudence and calm, she too can succumb to emotions and lost herself in them. Her adoption of a bounty hunter’s persona when Rhyley was injured in the Valarian attack on Outmian Yakta shows just how devoted she was to the safety of the one she loved. Her rage at Raedan’s lack of action toward the well being of Rhyley portray this as well.

Though Atyphe and Rhyley clearly love one another they often find their opinions on appropriate actions are at odds. Though Atyphe has her moments of recklessness, she harps upon Rhyley for his, often seeking to rein him in. It was in one such argument over Rhyley’s behavior (more specifically the building of the starport without bothering to inform her of it) that Rhyley proposed to Atyphe. Shocked at the suddenness of the proposal and at such an occasion Atyphe knew the correct answer relatively quickly. She knew that though their road would be rough and tumultuous, she had no desire to be with anyone else.

Atyphe was surprised upon finding out how well connected and important Rhyley’s family was. She was even more surprised, though in a pleasant manner, when his parents accepted her readily enough. A deep fear at being accepted due to her species had settled itself into her heart prior to meeting Rhyley’s family. If only she could make Bai’yle, Rhyley’s best friend feel the same way. Bai’yle’s dislike of Atyphe would prove another point of contention between the fiery couple.

Atyphe worried deeply upon her return that the uneven tempered Rhyley would not receive her absence well. She worried, unnecessarily, that he would resent her disappearance. Her homecoming, however, was tarnished by the news that Rhyley had lost an arm in the latest attack and was undergoing surgery the very next day. Though the reunion was a happy, Atyphe felt the loss very keenly in her heart. She vowed that she would never leave his side in such a manner again.

Me, a Jedi!?

Returning from a shakedown of her vaksai, Streamline, Atyphe came upon a mysterious woman named Ayelia Galin. The woman spoke vaguely about Atyphe’s uncle and how she had worked with him in the past. She also alluded to Atyphe being similar to her uncle who was a jedi knight and her similarity to her husband, Rhyley, who Atyphe knew was force sensitive. This revelation shocked the twi’lek, who had never dreamed of this potential within her. Sharing her thoughts with Rhyley didn’t seem to surprise the young man. Ayelia also said that she could be reached through the Alliance.

On the Road to Matrimony

Rhyley and Atyphe, having been apart for so long decided to no longer delay what both had agreed was the right decision prior to Atyphe’s disappearance. The two should become married. Thus the couple set about planning something simple but fitting, and it was not hard to come to the conclusion that it should be done in space. With Rhyley’s arm mostly better a date was set. Kileo was the mastermind behind the “hen” party which took place in Caerwynn’s home. Soon after the young couple were married in a rented yacht over Corellia in a traditional Corellian ceremony. The attendance was kept small and the coordination limited as they had chosen more at the spur of the moment to go through with the ceremony. Raedan Kitani acted as the best man while Deianirrah was the maid of honor. Though the ceremony and gathering was simple it was merely a formality for the couple.

The “Honeymooners”

With both Rhyley and Atyphe sharing the Stargazer name they set about on their honeymoon, which would be anything but orthodox. With the purpose of learning who was targeting Rhyley and DSE the couple traveled to Corellia. Contacting a friend of Rhyley, Corran Horn, the two set about with the intent to investigate Thracken Sal-Solo. They were soon intercepted by an intelligence agent of the Alliance Adar Tallon who did not want them interfering with an investigation already in place. Instead they were sent to Vreni Island to await further orders.

Atyphe and Rhyley were to learn that the Alliance was investigating a slave trade on Corellia. Non-humans were being taken into custody for fake crimes and then traded away as slaves. The couple was invited to take part in the mission to rescue a group of soon to be slaves and expose the ring. However the next few hours found the entire facility evacuated of all officers and with minimal security. As Atyphe and Rhyley began to investigate things did not sit well with them. Rhyley contacted his father while Atyphe began to mobilize and organize the forces on the Island. Learning that Captain Maran was a traitor and a large Imperial fleet was inbound the couple evacuated the island personnel to a safe place in the mountains to await evacuation.

After securing the safety of the Alliance personnel Rhyley and Atyphe made their way back to Coronet to learn of the location of Captain Maran, with the help of Rhyley’s Corsec contacts. Disguised as Imperial personnel the two infiltrated the facility and questioned and neutralized the traitor.

Alakathia

Having some time to spend together while the Alliance decided what to do about the information given to them by Rhyley and Atyphe the newlyweds traveled to Alakathia. It was clear, however, that despite the company and the wondrous environment that Rhyley was distracted. Atyphe followed her instincts and Rhyleys gaze and lured him to the opposite shore by pretending to have some trouble in the lake. As they got closer the pull became too great to resist and the couple investigated Rhyley’s feeling.

Following the pull to its source resulted in the finding of an ancient ruin, strange and dark carvings covering the surface. Within they found the bones of those long dead, and many different weapons of their manufacture, including lightsabers. Rhyley, after touching one of the sabers began to act strangely, his eyes glazed and his words confused. Atyphe was able to lure Rhyley back to the real galaxy, after which the two explore the temple more, each claiming one of the ancient sabers as a souvenir.

Assault on the Detention Facility

Having received their orders and picking up Raedan and Hendar the team made their way toward a Corsec patrol facility to take over a shuttle in order to make it to the now blockaded Corellia. The quick action by the team took the Detention facility by surprise, even with heightened security following Capt Maran’s death. However, the prisoners they intended to rescue had all been burned alive to a person. Placing explosive devices on each of the main power couplings of the structure the team retrieves what data they can before making their retreat and blowing the structure.

The First Steps into a Larger “World”

Atyphe spoke with those in the Alliance facility while awaiting extraction from Corellia after their mission in the detention facility. It was there that she learned of the true nature of the woman, Ayelia Galin, finding out the woman was a former jedi master. Surprised and not at the same time Atyphe spoke with Rhyley, saying that they should at least speak with the woman. Rhyley, being quite skeptical of anything remotely involving jedi, took some coaxing before he would agree, but in the end capitulated. A very large shock greeting the pair when they learned of where Ayelia lived; just outside the borders of their own home city and just a blaster’s shot from their own home. Atyphe and Rhyley spoke with Ayelia, learning a little of the nature of the force, though Rhyley seemed to be resistant to the older woman’s words. Atyphe took them more to heart and was quite receptive of the former jedi master’s invitation to guide them in their path. Ayelia also made an allusion to Rhyley’s bond with Aniwevei, though Atyphe didn’t quite understand the words at the time.

Rescue Once, Twice, Thrice, And Beyond

It was not long after all had returned that trouble reared its head once more. Jabba, blaming DSE for the slaying of minions he had infiltrating a hidden competitor’s outfit made his move. Thinking only to make DSE repay him for their interference at first, heated words caused Jabba to change his mind. Raedan and Caerwynn were both taken prisoner by the hutt; Caerwynn being forced to dance while Raedan endured heinous tortures.

After talking with Talon Karrde in search of information Atyphe was given a name and a location; Hado Sanada on Nar Shaddaa. A team was formed consisting of two different groups. Rhyley would fly solo while Atyphe would bring Sarparious, Kileo and Aindreas. Through various efforts they were able to learn that a cargo hold worker had recently angered Gardulla the Hutt. Investigating this worker proved to be difficult. He was foul mouthed and ornery. The team lacking cohesion sought many different methods of interrogation at once. Sarparious’ method turned out to be the undoing of the mission, choosing to threaten the man with a weapon, which the man in turn used to slay himself. With security now alert to their presence the team had to fight its way through Gardulla’s security, droids and turrets to escape via Genesis.

It was then that Atyphe was forced to make her payment for the information provided by Talon Karrde: a week’s worth of her time as a freight pilot. This time was enough away for Rhyley to get into trouble while trying to find the information the prior team to Nar Shaddaa had failed to retrieve. Upon returning from her journey Atyphe found Raedan had been horribly wounded, losing the lower half of his body and that Rhyley had disappeared and was presumed dead. This was not something Atyphe was willing to accept, however, believing she would have felt her husband’s death. She also learned that Kileo had been taken captive for some reason.

Setting out immediately, with only Erisey at her side, Atyphe flew Genesis to Nar Shaddaa in order to retrieve information on the whereabouts of her husband. They made there way to a data center so that Erisey could do her work, while Atyphe could do hers. She reached out with the force, hoping to locate her husband in some way. Not having the skill to penetrate the strong dark side nature of the moon Atyphe had no luck finding Rhyley, though she was contacted by the jedi Vima-Da-boda who “spoke” to her in riddles. Atyphe did learn, however, that Rhyley was alive, but no longer on Nar Shaddaa. She knew it was a place with darkness and electrical discharges, with machinery. Correlating the distances between Nar Shaddaa and nearby systems and using the information she gleaned from Vima, Mella was able to come up with one match, Kessel.

Finding nothing of true note other than the name Shug Ninx, Atyphe made her way to a local cantina in order to see if she couldn’t find more information. Atyphe was surprised to find the very cantina she hand wandered into was owned by Shug Ninx, who was already inside enjoying a drink. Disguised in her R.I.S armor Atyphe posed, at first, as a bounty hunter looking for Rhyley. Thinking Shug Ninx was somehow responsible for Rhyley’s death the twi’lek threatened Ninx, knocking him to the ground and holding a blaster to his throat. Upon learning Ninx was a family “friend” she backed away, though Ninx swore that Rhyley had been killed. Ninx took Atyphe to the Rogue Star where it was docked, though Emfive, Rhyley’s R-2 droid, would not let anyone near. Atyphe told the droid to maintain the ship secure while she found Rhyley. Atyphe also met up with Raedan’s team while they were looking for information on Gardulla the hutt and her involvement in those acting against Jabba.

Surprisingly, Rhyley’s father Taei Wynonyms, also arrived at the Spacebarn, Shug Ninx’s facility on the moon. Atyphe spoke with him and learned that an Alliance fleet was standing by to aid in what way it could, though it was involved in other matters dealing with Kyle Katarn’s ship the Raven’s Claw and an Imperial Star Destroyer in the system. Atyphe also learned that Jabba’s ship was in the sector.

Setting out as soon as possible Atyphe left for Kessel with Sle-twe, Sarparious, Raedan, Rymel and Aindreas (the last two being new hires) in order to rescue Rhyley. Coordinating with Taei and the Alliance fleet they were able to reach the surface of Kessel while the Alliance fleet set upon the Imperial.

When on the surface Atyphe was able to learn, through the force, that Rhyley was near the entrance of a cave, which was also near the energy surge they had detected from space and landed near. Bypassing the groups of Imperials they created a diversion to draw them away from their true objective by exploding a large group of supplies. They then set upon the guards of the facility in force, noting that many Black Sun were among the number. Destroying the power generators gave the team another source of cover as smoke covered the air thickly. Fighting their way through the spiders that fed upon the glitterstim energies the team was able to extract the exhausted Rhyley and make their way back to Tatooine.

Using the information on Gardulla that Raedan had managed to obtain, DSE was able to secure the release of Caerwynn and Kileo.

Hopes and Dreams

As Atyphe has experienced more of the Galaxy and what it has to offer her dreams have changed drastically, as what she sees as truly important in life changes.

Business

Atyphe has aspirations of one day returning her family freight business to operation. With Genesis, she has begun to realize this dream. She does realize, however, that contacts will have to be made. Contacts she feels are being well formed while working for Dune Sea Enterprises. She does realize, however, that this is a long road. While she still owns the business license and name, she still only owns one ship. Atyphe is, however, hopeful.

Also, she still maintains the aspiration of owning her own cantina. This is a bit further away, she thinks, as staffing and building a cantina is a major undertaking. After some conversation with Deianirrah the idea of a starship cantina has brewed and fermented in her mind.

Recent events have put the idea of a cantina far into the background. She has, however, purchased all rights to the Vrydella Shipping Company name. The ship Genesis is, as of yet, the only registered ship on the company roster, but Atyphe is amassing the funds to purchase others rapidly. Along with the supplies she runs for the Alliance she has also garnished rather lucrative contacts due to her expeditious service and mind for detail. She has even consented to run legitimate freight for Jabba and Karrde.

While her five month absence has served to lose some of her more lucrative contracts Atyphe is confident she can regain them with her reemergence. As well, the funds invested before her abduction have only grown.

Atyphe has recently, with the help of Rhyley’s grandfather Gern, purchased a YT-2400 at almost cost. This has brought about thoughts of how she will go about breathing life into Vrydella Shipping Company. She knows she cannot possibly captain both vessels simultaneously. Coming up with a compromise Genesis has become something of a personal vessel while the Horizon is a strictly commercial vessel.

Family

It wasn’t until the start of Rhyley and Atyphe’s relationship that the thoughts of family even began to enter her mind. Though she was unsure of their compatibility she did know that someday, perhaps when war and violence were not so prevalent, she might want to start a family.

With an impending marriage to Rhyley, questions of family are impossible to keep at bay. Corellian ways demand that the family be perpetuated and questions of compatibility have been broached between the couple. Atyphe, still in many ways insecure and vulnerable, worries about not being able to one day produce an heir. The two have spoke on this one more than one occasions with the idea of adopting one of the many orphans of the Alliance being one possible solution, or a surrogate mother being another.

Galaxy

Atyphe has an idealist’s hope for the galaxy. She sees the Alliance as the best means toward forming a society where people may live free of oppression and in peace. Truly living by the ideal that all species are equal Atyphe pushes for these ideals in all things. Slavery, oppression and social disparity are all things she would combat if given the choice.

Having been through her own share of hardships in a relatively short period of time Atyphe has, out of necessity, adopted the role of soldier. She has had to learn to separate emotion from decisions in the heat of battle. Often what is best for the survival of the mission is not necessarily best for those on the mission and she struggles to do what is right. As someone that has the utmost respect for every individual life this has been a difficult effort for her. Despite this she has endeavored to emulate the teachings on battlefield leadership that she has been receiving of late, which has led to more than one labeling her as ruthless. Though meant as a compliment, Atyphe took this as a major blow toward everything she holds dear. Her ideals diametrically opposed with those of the Empire Atyphe’s recent experiences are causing her to think very deeply about all she has learned, seen and done.

Personality and Traits

Atyphe is a free spirited, compassionate idealist at the very core of her being. Though for a time this was repressed due to the tragedies she endured, it was inevitable that it would burst free, reborn. The twi’lek pilot can be opinionated at times, but usually attempts to express her opinions in a constructive manner. Though not as stubborn as some she is firm in her ideals and will not give ground when she is sure she is right. The woman could also be said to think too much at times and can second guess herself.

Having little choice but to adopt a role of leadership in the absence of other strong leaders Atyphe does her best to see that others are taken care of and along with Rhyley she tries to ensure the mental and emotional strain of events does not get her comrades too far down. She also tries to be a voice of reason among the hotter heads as well as a moral compass.

Intensely loyal to those she cares about, she will do anything in her power to help others. She typically attempts to remain cordial or at least polite to those she cares little for, but in the face of opposition is not afraid to speak out.

Recent discovery of her force sensitive nature and how this has affected her entire life has caused Atyphe to become more thoughtful than normal as she tries to sort through it all.

Talents

Atyphe is a talented musician, her favorites being the mandovial and the nalargon as well as a dancer and a singer. She has always had an artistic side and had written a handful of songs prior to setting this path aside to concentrate on helping the Rebellion and DSE.

Atyphe started out with little experience in combat, but through the school of hard knocks has had little choice but to pick up more than a little first hand experience. She has learned to use pistols, carbines and rifles. Having had opportunities to watch some of her more martial comrades (Melai, Hendar) in combat she’s adopted those skills and abilities suited to her. Also hard study of techniques and eventually an elite combat course given by the Alliance helped to hone her abilities. Her month long tenure with the jedi hermit, Det, has left her with a good grasp of hand to hand combat. Further improving this skill and her ability to improvise was her time spent in the prison caverns, where she had to fight or die. Though Atyphe keeps her comrades’ safety in mind, she can be rather unheeding of her own often attempting reckless or daring moves. Adding to her personal combat experience Atyphe has also studied tactics and has a fair grasp of such.

Having grown up around spacecraft of all sorts, Atyphe is a surpassingly skilled pilot, possessing both natural instinct and ability for it as well as a honed edge through experience. As long as the controls of the craft are not of completely foreign design it doesn’t take her long to figure out the basic controls and not too much longer to feel out the nuances. In addition to her piloting skills Atyphe has an in depth working knowledge of ship systems and can often make less demanding repairs and modifications.

Powers and abilities

Force Abilities

Reflex

Atyphe’s reflexes are finely honed by her force abilities. From youth until she had discovered her force potential she was unaware of the force’s role in her quick reflexes. During her time in the prison caverns this was honed to an active thing, in which her precognition saved her life almost daily. Now she has some small amount of control on this after regaining her memories of her time in the caverns.

Strength

Also something that came about in her time in the caverns, Atyphe boosted her strength while fighting for her life allowing her to best bigger and normally stronger opponents. Though she can only currently use this ability to small effect, when she is angered or if she loses control it could possibly instinctually kick in.

Speed

Yet another ability Atyphe had made use of in her time in the caverns Atyphe can actively use the force to enable short bursts of intense speed. This saved her life on Nar Shaddaa when she fled Gardulla’s minions to jump and catch a passing speeder. She cannot maintain this for longer than a few moments in her relatively untrained state.

Telepathy

This ability was inadvertently discovered when Atyphe and her husband linked minds. She made use of this ability to attempt to locate Rhyley when he was thought dead and she knew he was not. This was also how she was able to contact Vima and learn for certain that Rhyley was still alive. This ability also caused her to link with Jhaeda Mallarchus, allowing the two women to reach an understanding.

Equipment

Ships

The Genesis

The Genesis is Atyphe’s most prized possession. A heavily modified YT-1300 light freighter, the Genesis is a ship that’s been adapted to Atyphe through many long hours of experimentation and arrangement of interfaces. The ship has been rearranged so that Atyphe can in a pinch pilot her on her own, though she often makes use of her astromech droid Mella. The follow systems have been modified: Engines, Navigation systems, Data systems, Deflector shields, Military grade turrets and capacitor (and fire control systems), Armor plating, Reactor. Though Genesis is registered under the Vrydella Shipping Company name is serves mostly as a personal vessel for the twi’lek. She has also considered taking the ship off the company roster due to the more clandestine operations it sees use in.

The Horizon

The Horizon, a YT-2400, is a new acquisition of Atyphe’s, having been purchased at an extreme discount price through Rhyley’s grandfather. Atyphe has already gotten her ready for flight, having modified much of her systems in the same manner as the Genesis. Atyphe has set this ship aside for purely commercial use.

Streamline

The Streamline is a vasksai starfighter that Atyphe came upon in a junk yard. A mere damaged frame, this ship’s rebirth was a work of love for the twi’lek. Mostly a project to test out her refurbishing skills Atyphe was so pleased with the result that she decided to keep it and has also made it her starfighter of preference.

Fearless Wind

Fearless Wind is Atyphe’s personal B-22 and is mostly a stock model used with escort patrols with DSE. It is named after her father’s once nickname for her.

AV-21

While Atyphe normally keeps a swoop handy her vehicle of choice is a black, with purple stripes, AV-21. She keeps it constantly tuned and routinely ensures the sand filters are maintained.

Mella

Mella is Atyphe’s R-3 astromech droid which is almost always aboard her ship Genesis. The droid had had its memory wiped before it was purchased by Atyphe from Talon Karrde, but has since not undergone a single wipe (per Atyphe’s preference). Mella also has some entertainment software loaded into her.

Relationships

Rhyley Stargazer

It goes almost without saying that Atyphe is closer to no other person in the Galaxy than her husband. In the beginning Atyphe’s timid and gentle nature drove her to treat Rhyley with kindness in a time when he needed support. As more of her older self emerged she served to act as a voice of reason for the more emotionally driven Rhyley. Their numerous clashes resulted from a growing bond and need to protect each other. Both believing strongly in their ideals they would clash numerous times before finally expressing the true reasons behind their behavior. Atyphe knew very little of love and relationships and was thus surprised when Rhyley shared his feelings for her. Even more surprising was realizing, upon inward reflection, that she felt the very same.

Despite any hardship or arguments Atyphe can’t possibly imagine a life without the irrepressible male human and she can imagine no other person with which she could spend the rest of her life. Atyphe learning of Rhyley’s bond with Aniwevei has brought up some rather uncomfortable questions for the twi’lek. Though she fears the answers, her nature demands she find them.

Deianirrah Sevestis

This twi’lek woman was the first friendly face that Atyphe saw upon her arrival to Tatooine. Deia’s coaching of the once shy Atyphe was instrumental in bringing Atyphe closer to the fearless girl she once was and helping her to overcome the deep losses she’d faced in the past. It was Deianirrah’s help that emboldened Atyphe enough to even perform in front of others and even inspire her toward writing her own songs.

Atyphe would place herself into any danger in order to repay that debt she feels to the woman. Though the two have disagreed in the past over a few matters Atyphe still treasures their friendship. She is, however, somewhat worried about the seeming distance that she has felt between the two since she returned from her absence.

Raedan Kitani

Raedan has always been one of those people that “inspires” the most exasperation from Atyphe. Knowing the young man has talent and skill, she was in the beginning of things rather hard on him. She would often try and enforce her own ideals and beliefs upon the man. More often than not she felt she was speaking down toward the human male.

It was not until after she had left and come back that she realized that her approach to the whole thing has been rather poor. Now knowing more of leadership and having had her entire perspective on life changed she seeks to encourage Raedan to achieve his potential and treats him with kindness as much as possible. Though she does feel he occasionally needs some guidance she is also quite pleased with how much he’s come along on his own. Through Rhyley and her own affection she considers Raedan a brother.

Bai’yle Norssohn

Rhyley’s brother has always been something of an enigma to Atyphe. She has always appreciated what the man means to her husband, Rhyley, but has always been hurt deeply by the man’s initial distance from her. Trying to befriend him on many occasions she was met by coolness. Bai’yle’s treatment of Atyphe was a source of contention between her and Rhyley.

Upon her return, Atyphe found that Bai’yle was much more cordial to her and though she feels he might do this mostly for Rhyley’s benefit she enjoys the change regardless. Bai’yle refers to Atyphe as his sister and this is something Atyphe reciprocates, though she worries about how deep this bond really is. Part of her feels Bai’yle does this for the benefit of Rhyley, evidence like Bai’yle not meeting Atyphe’s gaze lending credence.

Jhaeda Mallarchus

The once Imperial trooper is someone that Atyphe has only just met and only had a short exchange with. With the accidental connection via the force and shared memories, however, Atyphe knows more about the human woman than she does her own husband. Varying emotions have resulted from this. First and foremost Atyphe pities Jhaeda for all she has had to endure, never having known the closeness of a caring family. Atyphe was also surprised at the nobility and honor in the woman’s character, despite her prior position. She sees the conviction in Jhaeda and the will to do the right thing. Despite herself Atyphe actually likes Jhaeda and finds even more surprisingly that she, rightfully, trusts the woman.

Erisey Casoona-Kitani

Atyphe had only met this woman once prior to her disappearance, but has found since her return that she likes the woman and though she still knows little about her or her past she trusts the woman. A large part of this may be the regulatory presence she presents to Raedan. Though Atyphe would hesitate to claim any credit it was not until the twi’lek had spoken with Erisey that she agreed to marry Raedan. Atyphe holds hopes for their marriage, though she hopes her own idealistic beliefs on love hasn’t lead the pair astray.

Atyphe has also been surprised on occasion at the trust Erisey seems to place in her. Atyphe was asked to officiate Erisey and Raedan’s wedding, something that both surprised and touched the twi’lek. Atyphe only sees her friendship with Erisey growing.

Kileo Dimoh

Kileo is someone that had joined the company after Atyphe’s return from her time away. She was the first DSE face the twi’lek saw upon her return. Atyphe has heard about all the help the woman provided to Rhyley while she was away and appreciates it deeply. Though Atyphe has not had a great deal of contact with the woman she does like her. Kileo was the one that organized Atyphe’s hen party prior to her marriage to Rhyley. The relationship, however, does have some hidden tension. Atyphe wonders at the history of the woman and is wary of Kileo’s relationship with Quazaq Jappy, someone Atyphe feels at worst is an Imperial plant and in the least an untrustworthy individual. The tales Atyphe has heard about him from the time he was taken in by Tail’a have not impressed the twi’lek. Some small part of Atyphe also feels a twinge of jealousy when she sees Rhyley and the human woman together.

Caerwynn Royce

Atyphe doesn’t know what to make of the CEO of DSE. The redheaded woman is not someone Atyphe looks up to or holds a lot of respect for. Atyphe feels Caerwynn holds herself above the general employees under her and sees her as something of a talking head instead of a leader. There may be some resentment as well for the continued need to rescue the woman. Atyphe is also suspicious of the woman’s past as she obviously knows something of combat. Atyphe has also disagreed with the human woman’s decisions in the past.

Despite all this Atyphe is still curious about the woman and feels more pity for the lonely figurehead than dislike. She feels compassion for the failed relationships Caerwynn has endured as well as the hardships. Caerwynn’s willingness to trust Rhyley and through him Atyphe with the secret of her prior Alliance ties and her force sensitive Teras Kasai ability has challenged Atyphe’s views of the competence of the woman.

Cravon Wolfgang

The shady human mayor of Outmian Yakta is someone Atyphe never had much interaction with. This alone is something she found wrong from the very beginning. Given the man’s position as mayor, his minute involvement in the town was always something of a source of discontent for the idealistic twi’lek.

Given Cravon’s willingness to give up Rhyley to Zann on Yavin IV Atyphe lost any shred of any amount of respect she could have for the man. In the end she didn’t find that she hated him, however, but instead pitied him for his “pragmatic” beliefs. As an idealist Atyphe would have rather died than give up any of the others in the group. Cravon’s stance and the need to convince him not to give up Rhyley ensured that Atyphe will not trust the man to any length. The twi’lek does know, however that if Cravon had tried to forcibly remove Rhyley from her grasp she would have started shooting and not stopped until she ran out of ammunition.

Sarparious Serpentus

Sarparious, or Sarp, was someone that Atyphe had found she was building a tentative friendship with and found conversing with diverting. However, dealing with him during missions and during trying times has proven to be virtually impossible for the twi’lek. She feels that the trandoshan looks down upon others, setting himself above them in intelligence and ability. Atyphe knows that part of their arguments stem from her own stubborn nature, but she feels that the trandoshan has exhibited very poor judgment in many instances. She finds she does not trust his instincts and given prior insults is not sure if she likes him at all. It was during their first mission together on Nar Shaddaa that the trandoshan did not recognize her rank within OSF and claimed she had abandoned Rhyley during her disappearance. Sarp’s relationship with Deianirrah is something that worries Atyphe greatly. Though he claims outwardly to care for Deia, Atyphe has noticed a very large change in the other twi’lek woman’s personality. Unaware of any hardships that Deia has undergone due to Atyphe’s absence and due to the lack of real time to catch up with her friend, Atyphe suspects the change in Deia is caused by Sarp.

Sle-twe Elo

This twi’lek woman is something of an enigma to Atyphe. The two are on friendly terms and Sle-twe has shown on many occasions that she is trustworthy in battle. She wonders at the origins and secretive natures of Sle, however. Atyphe, growing up on Corellia, is not as immersed in her own heritage as some twi’leks and desires to learn more of the other woman.

Finding Sle-twe in the Alliance barracks among the dead rebels within has enhanced Atyphe’s curiosity of the woman. She is definitely watching Sle-twe, who has joined their special operations team.

Hendar

The mandalorian is also a mystery to Atyphe, though she knows that Rhyley trusts him implicitly. Atyphe trusts her life in his hands and as a fellow team member would risk her life to save him and trust her life in his hands. She respects and has often watched his style of combat to learn more and better her own methods. She has seen little of his personality and worries that he might spend too much time in the company of alcohol.

Eleyenora Roseward

Atyphe’s relationship with the Doctor has always been multi-faceted. The large majority of Atyphe dislikes the woman, mostly due to Eleyenora’s treatment of others. She also intensely dislikes the woman’s attitude toward twi’leks. Atyphe’s dislike has gone as far as to inspire a satire against the human woman. Atyphe can’t help but wonder if this woman’s flaws are all an act, and if so, wonder at what would cause someone to adopt such a dangerous façade. There have been many occasions that have forced Atyphe into feeling sorry for the woman and caused her to attempt to befriend Eleyenora. Despite these attempts the human woman always seemed to treat her the same way.

The recent resurfacing of the Doctor on Lok and her involvement with the Smuggler’s Alliance has brought many questions to Atyphe’s mind. Just how is she involved with the Alliance? What is this element KB-18 that the Doctor is seeking so adamantly?

Talon Karrde

Rightly so, Atyphe doesn’t fully trust Talon Karrde. Or, it would be more accurate to say, she does trust him to stay true to his nature, and it is his nature that she does not agree with. Though loyal to his comrades the man is still loyal to the almighty credit. Atyphe accepts this, but still maintains a good working relationship with the man. If Talon Karrde is upset about the loss of a pilot like Atyphe he’s not letting on, other than the occasional bid to attempt to lure her away from DSE. Atyphe makes occasional legitimate runs for the smuggler when her duties permit.

Jabba

Atyphe doesn’t trust or even particularly like Jabba, but she recognizes his power and the important role the hutt plays in the stability of the planet and even the sector. Though she turns down more work that she is offered she takes enough legitimate jobs from Jabba to keep the offers coming. Even early on Jabba saw the backbone of the twi’lek and saw a potential source of money for him. Though she has, for the most part, “escaped” she still provides some benefit to him. DSE’s and through it Atyphe’s exploits against Valarian rather amuse the hutt.

Ayelia Galin

Atyphe isn’t quite sure what to expect from this mysterious woman. She knows the former jedi master has contacts in high places among the Alliance, but doesn’t know Ayelia’s place within. Atyphe definitely holds the ever poised woman in regard, though is also mindful of facades. The twi’lek’s recent exposure to Tsotha has made her wary of “jedi”, the rather unstable behavior of the male jedi taking her aback. Atyphe has taken the few exercises Ayelia has given her to heart and has been performing them in earnest, even if she doesn’t quiet understand the purpose of them. Atyphe is slowly building trust for the woman that revealed to her, her own force sensitivity.

Missing Friends

Atyphe has built friendships with many of those she has met in DSE in the past and finds often that she misses them greatly. Friends like Nasnomei, Abaim, Melai and Max who are either missing or dead fills Atyphe with sadness. She has vowed she will honor the memories of these friends with right and moral action in all she does.
