Description
Personality
More a thinker, philosopher, than a warrior Ayelia prefers a more academic and thoughtful approach to force use. Though she has spent the time to master some lightsaber techniques, especially after the battle at Geonosis proved her preferred style to be flawed. She is generally soft spoken and pleasant, often giving compliments to others. She is strongly compassionate, holding a deep empathy for all life forms, and holds all life sacred. Almost impossible to anger and offend, she proved more than adept at diplomacy. Though some may mistake her reluctance to use forceful measures as pacifistic she is also a stalwart defender of justice and will take up arms to protect those that cannot do so themselves. Despite her contemplative and soft spoken nature she also can be quiet matronly when the need arises, not being afraid to take a firm hand in matters.
Ayelia is deeply disturbed by her choice to flee at the recommendation sent out from the Jedi Temple on Curuscant. Even this tempered woman was shaken at hearing the great loses to the order brought about by those that remained to fight. She questions her decision to go into hiding rather than fight against the Empire’s fascist regime constantly.
History
Ayelia Galin was originally of Alderaan (born in 52 BBY), but was taken for her training at an early age, as typical of all jedi. During her training she proved quite adept at the more mental aspects of the force, and often adhered to the concept of the passive force, rather than the active. Ayelia was the padawan of Jedi Master Aeryn Merrick, a renowned force healer and diplomat.
Known for her impartial dealings and compassion for all peoples it was all too fitting that she would become a diplomat or Jedi Consular. Though she learned how to fight with a lightsaber, as did all jedi, she preferred to reach resolutions through peaceful means if possible and was almost always the last person with a weapon drawn, unless someone's life was in danger.
Only a few years prior to the beginning of the Clone Wars, she achieved the rank of Jedi Master, having seen her once padawan, Maegen Illan achieve the rank of Jedi Knight. Maegen Illan, though also known for her diplomatic abilities, served and died in the Clone Wars. Though Ayelia was respected there was some small concern at her elevation to Master as Maegen was a truly gifted force user. Ayelia's own successes as well as those of Maegen squelched these misgivings rather quickly.
Throughout her time as a jedi, Ayelia attained a reputation for compassion and fair dealing. She seemed to have the knack for seeing both sides of the issue and coming to a compromising resolution that left both sides of a disagreement, if not happy, content. Adept at dealing with all manner of races she was often sent with delegations when new races sought to enter the Republic. Despite her successes as a diplomat, she kept a low profile, not seeking fame or renown. It was this fact along with a little outside help that would save her.
At the outskirts of the Republic boundaries during the majority of the Clone Wars, Ayelia even in the time of trouble, was negotiating the indoctrination of a new people into the Republic. Having felt the deaths of so many of her comrades, she was wary at the distress signal she heard; though she quickly made preparations to return to Coruscant. Growing alarmed when the distress signal turn into a warning she hurriedly adjusted her course and went far beyond the reaches of what was to become the Empire. What truly saved her, however, was the brother she never remembered. Delaar Galin, who always remembered the small baby sister that was taken away, followed Ayelia's career with interest. A skilled computer slicer, he was horrified at the slaughter of the jedi order and used his skills to completely erase Ayelia's record from Republic memory. He was able to get one message to his sister before she disappeared out of reach, but was later killed in the destruction of Alderaan.
Staying quiet and using her ability to blend in she never stayed in one place for too long. Always seeking to maintain a more passive use of the force, she adapted well to never using any active abilities. For nineteen years she hid. Only with the massive out surge in the force that came with the destruction of Alderaan did she decide it was time to return. Though ordered to go into hiding she could stand idle no longer. Upon reaching the more known reaches of the galaxy she was deeply saddened to hear of Alderaan's loss, as well as the state of things (i.e. the formation of the Empire and removal of the Senate). She is currently deciding which course of action she wishes to take, though she has realized the evils of the Empire and fears no peaceful resolution can be reached.
The Return
Ayelia’s return to within the Borders of the Empire has surprised her. Though she realized quickly the ambitious nature of the Emperor’s take-over she did not truly think to return to find the Empire’s grasp to be so solid as it was. However, she remained hopeful, especially after learning of the Rebel Alliance and more specifically the promising Luke Skywalker. She quickly reached the decision to reside on Tatooine, due to it’s somewhat remote, but still accessible location. Despite knowing that her record had been completely wiped out, she still took the cautious approach and made inquiries via proxy as to remaining fugitive jedi. Finding that her name was not on any lists, due to the thorough wipe conducted by her brother and by her own modest nature, she felt safe in her decision to return.
Ayelia also found that some accounts had been set aside for her by her brother in the event of her return. She made use of the accounts to set up a small home just outside the border of the city Outmian Yakta. She has set up a safe room for emergencies and covert operations. Equipment that was left in a store room for her by her brother still remained functional, and she put it to good use. She built a completely hidden room into the back of her home and created the access level inside the room so that only one knowing the lever’s location (something requiring having seen the room before and knowing the well hidden lever exists) and able to use the force can gain entry.
Ayelia quickly began to receive a sense of purpose. She believes the force is attempting to guide her in a specific direction. Due to her long utilization of the passive force she feels more in tune with its “will”. She quickly set about researching the reason behind this pull.
The Alliance
Knowing many of the political figures within the Alliance to Restore the Republic itself, Ayelia made discrete contact. Ayelia pledged herself to helping in those ways she might, setting up a hidden operations center in her modest home. Within she could monitor communications and movement as well as access the various satelite networks, all undetected. Though she has yet to come out in the open, she does not plan on remaining quiet for too long.
The Empire
Ayelia kept an eye on things in town as best she could. Much of her time, however, was spent in meditation and in practicing as she had for the past nineteen years. She also spent a lot of time monitoring communications on and off the planet when she was able. She was curious as to why the Empire had set up on Tatooine. She was also disturbed by the unrest and strong emotions she sensed in so many in the nearby town of Outmian Yakta. She was disturbed, but unsurprised by the behavior she witnessed.
Of primary concern was the treatment of the fragile Doctor Eleyenora Roseward. She could sense the deep emotional turmoil caused to the woman when a trooper of the 225th insisted on attempting to help the Doctor. Ayelia could stand by no longer as she reached out, sensing the Doctor was close to death, her heart and mind clearly overwhelmed. With a purpose she travelled to the medical facility and talked Rhyley into letting her in. Careful of being recognize or known, she warped her features, so that any recordings of her would seem distorted. When within she made her way to the Doctor, her senses taking stock of the younger woman’s condition. Knowing that without help the Doctor would die, Ayelia knelt by her side and drew on the force as she hadn’t for nearly nineteen years, perhaps even longer. She stabilized the Doctor’s physical condition, pouring healing energy into the woman. As Rhyley was present she was careful, injecting the Doctor with a very mild sedative, passing it off as a cure for the Doctor’s condition that had fallen out of favor for medical use with the onset of the Empire. From there she spoke at length with the Doctor, attempting to sooth the younger woman’s nerves and mind. She remained at her side until the morning. Subsequent talks with the Doctor after she had left the medical facility revealed that Eleyenora remembered the jedi woman only subconsiously.
The actions, continued beatings and an almost death, drove Ayelia into firm resolve. She knew her decision to contact the Alliance was sound. She just had to figure out what her place within it should be.
New Beginnings
Ayelia had felt the pull during her meditations, and could not ignore the purpose she felt. The force wanted something from her, and it resided far away. Eventually dreams began to come to her, confusing and cryptic. She saw her once friends among the order speaking to her, cryptic hints of a past relic that would provide an important key. Searching for clues among the holonet eventually Ayelia discovered the rumors among the underground of a holocron. The jedi paid much for discretely gaining the information, via proxies within the Alliance. With her dreams, meditations and the information she gleaned she realized that she must travel to Mustafar and seek out her destiny.
