History

Early Beginnings

During the Clone Wars the unit was formed by Leoan Scauld as Corellian Security Forces feared a possible attack from Seperatist Fleets. Assigned to the Whyren Fleet, the squadron would prove instrumental in continuing to protect the Corellian Sector from most destabilising factors that inherently came from the war.

Following the end of the Clone Wars and the reformation of the Republic as a Galactic Empire, the Black Squadron continued to serve Corellian Space Lanes as a protector of the Corellian Trade Route, as Pirate attacks become more fierce, Scauld would lead countless sorties against the Binyare and Shadow Pirate Organisations and eventually assigned to the 3rd Sector Defence Fleet.

New Path

Following the death of Diktat Thomree, CorSec was reshuffled, drafted alongside the Imperial Navy, the Black Squadron along with the Whyren Fleet was re-organised into one of the first Cor-Sec-Imperial Space Units. There it has remained under the leadership of Commander Elteen Rhea and the direction of Admiral Wiltrian Kitani and has performed in the Blockade of Corellia and the Assault of Tatooine.

Organisation

During it's early days the Black Squadron utilised Z-95 Headhunter a starfighter made by a joint venture of Subpro and Incom Corporations. By contrast this lead to a lot of unease between CorSec and CEC, given that it was supposed the best CorSec should offer should be Corellian made. However this did not change, by the beginning of the Galactic Civil War, at around 1BBY, CorSec adopted the new Incom Starfighter, the T-65 X-Wing.

Yet upon the reformation of the Squadron as a CorSec-Imperial Unit, the Black Squadron has since adopted the Sienar System TIE/In Fighter and more recently the TIE/In Interceptor.

Since it's earliest days, every starfighter has kept a matte black appearance, the fighters adhering to the name of it's squadron.

It is known that the leader of the squadron is referred to as Black Leader.

Foot Note

This Organisation is used within a Dune Sea Desperadoes Plots and is so part of the SEAverse of Star Wars lore.

In the SEAverse, the Organisations history may run a different course to that of canon or the EU.
