DSE vs the Space Pirates

From Chimaera Roleplayers

Jump to: navigation, search

Dune Sea Enterprises versus the Space Pirates was a progressive story arc that was created back in July 2007 and has since gone from strength to strength looking to last well into the new year, encompassing over forty Roleplaying Characters as well as an assortment of NPCs and the inclusion of event support from SOE that also saw the participation of SOE Employee 'Pex' as 'Guri'.

Outmian Yakta under the shadow of Jabba's Palace

Initially started from the 'Rhyley Stargazer vs the Space Pirates Plot' with Rhyley Stargazer re-forming the much beloved Ghost Squadron in DSE, the story grew to include the 'Mareena Moondancer Plot' as well as seeing the formation of a new exciting criminal and intelligence network group within DSE.

The main target of the plot was to increase the story of those that were currnetly identified in Outmian Yakta, characters like Caerwynn Royce, Cravon Wolfgang and Ixal Dorran as well as to introduce a new breed of characters that would see their story flourish like 'Max Rockatanski, Atyphe Vrydella and Raedan Kitani. The story has since seen an increase of participation across several different guilds as well as being the perfect introduction for new characters looking to get involved in Chimeara Roleplay.

Due to this plotline, Dune Sea Enterprises has itself increased its activity like never seen before, with four sub-sections being established or formed under the DSE Banner including its Squadron, the DSE Security, Civil Divisions and Underworld Intelligence Network.

Brief Plot Synopsis

Following the decision to make DSE a completely legitimate organisation, tremors have been sent through the underworld. With Jabba happy to see Caerwynn make her own fortune he allows the company to distance itself from its past. With smugglers and other unsavouries flocking to Jabba's instead of being inducted into DSE's own less than favourable plans, it inadvertidly causes his own organisation to grow. With DSE becoming more proficient and organised, the organisation soon builds a reputation for being a company that can supply and escort Transports safely across the galaxy.

It's a move that seems to pay off for both organisations.

However from afar Prince Xizor is less than happy with this development. Annoyed that Jabba has allowed such a lucrative company to break away from his control and seeing a chance to break the Hutts monopoly on the Spice Lanes from Tatooine to Nar Shaddaa and the Core, Xizor hatches a plan to undo and destroy DSE's fortunes and perhaps dealing with Jabba once and for all. Calling upon the heads of the Underworld Organisations including the Valorians, Shadows and Sennex Pirates, they formulate their plans.

Beseeching Bib Fortuna and promising to give him Jabba's territories once they eliminate DSE, they convene on the best way to destroy DSE, highlighting the need to take out its command structure. With Cravon being the biggest threat to their plans, and knowing that it may be leaked to their more predominant members of what they were planning and thus finding its way to Cravon and DSE, Xizor commands a few of his most trusted men to deal with the threat, assigning Guir, Zakka Thyne and Durga the Hutt to deal wtih Cravon wolfgang and Caerwynn Royce.

Xizor goes about placing members in DSE that would remain loyal to their plans. Fortuna contacts Myngo about such a person and highlights Raedan. With both Myngo and Raedan thinking they are acting on Jabba's wishes, Fortuna watches with sheer joy as Raedan manages to get a place with the Dancers and with Caerwynn close. Allowing Raedan to think what he was doing was his own chosing, Fortuna gives as much resources to Myngo and Rae as he can allow without letting Jabba notice.

Their next target was the Security team. With the break-down in the security and more specifically the break-down in friendship between Ixal and Melai, Xizor hires bounty hunters to take out the two men, gathering Intel whilst they are in town. Soon strange figures are seen roaming the streets and frequenting the Cantina, though perculiar they mind their own business and pass largely unnoticed, though they wait on the order to execute both Ixal and Melai.

With spies planted in Outmian, Xizor looks to his next target. With the Squadron going from strength to strength and defending it's transports from numerous ambushes complete with success, Xizor highlights Stargazer as a target to either corrupt or kill. Using the spies in town it is soon noted that his old friend Bai'yle Norssohn has been inducted into the squadron along with the not so subtle development of Rhyley and Atyphe's Relationship. Tasking the Shadow and Sennex Organisations for the neutralising of Stargazer, the two Organisation instigate a plan to kill Norssohn and capture Atyphe in the hopes of reigning the hotshot pilot in.

Though they fail in killing Norssohn in an ambush on Corellia, the two groups reconvene and manage to capture Atyphe from her home in Outmian. However if by some twist of fate the day they instigated the kidnapping was also the day Stargazer and his Companions would descend on the Pirates outposts on Talus, freeing the female Twi'lek and killing some of the important players in the Shadow Organisation. Leaving with star-charts and encrypted messages, the joint efforts to get Stargazer had failed.

Xizor's next target was the leadership itself which meant both Cravon and Caerwynn. Using his ties in the Empire, Xizor gathered as much information on the woman and Outmian Yakta as he could. Using reports that restrictive data was possibly placed across Outmian though had remained unfounded, Xizor decided to try and win the Emperor's favour by taking out one or two questionable sites. Approaching the Sand-People with the promise of more territory once DSE and Jabba were gone, the Tuskens were only too happy to help destroy Sibie's Factories. Though they scored a hit, the factories at large mainly remained unharmed. Annoyed Xizor shelves this plan for another time.

Looking to overwhelm the Red Head further, Xizor approaches a rather neurotic Sullustan offering to make him a Made-Man should he capture Miss Royce. Though not expecting him to get past Security but merely a hope that the alien would shake Caerwynn's safety and peace of mind, Xizor could not believe his luck when he heard how the Sullustan held the woman at blaster-point before being blown away by the STRP detachment.

What wasn't expected however was the sudden and shock announcement of Caerwynn's engagement to an Imperial Captain. Knowing that if DSE became close to the Empire, they would never be able to rid the Company from Tatooine, unable to match the power of the Imperials with all their Combined Resources. Xizor calls in Lady Valorian, the Heads of the Borvo, Shadow, Sennex and Binyare Organisations as well as Fortuna to hatch a way with which to rid them of DSE and its Members once and for all.

The Main Feature

Rising from the Dune Sea

After the destruction of the Death Star, unsettling times arrived in the galaxy. As more and more strife became apparent around the Outer Rim a band of smugglers and slicers beseeched the Tatooine Crime Lord, Jabba the Hutt with a proposition of creating a Smuggling Ring based under his direction in the Dune Sea. The Smugglers headed by Safim Aipiera and Caerwynn Royce would pay the mighty Jabba subsidiaries in Rent as well turn over a large chunk of their profits. Initially formed as the Dune Sea Desperadoes, as their organisation grew so did their smuggling outpost, Outmian Yakta.

As their trafficking increased, so did the attention placed on DSD and Outmian Yakta. The outpost soon grew into a small town and was often frequented by travellers looking to go from Mos Espa to Wayfar. With the town becoming larger, the citizens soon welcomed Cravon Wolfgang as Mayor of the thriving town. Entering into an agreement with DSD, Wolfgang tied the town and organisation together, and along with Caerwynn Royce established a trading company, re-named the Dune Sea Enterprises.

Seized and Reputation

Three years after the fateful Battle of Yavin, the company was well established, its freighters travelling across the galaxy, importing minerals and ore to a resource depleted Tatooine, as well as exporting sand. As rumours surfaces of DSE's involvement in handling stolen data from an Imperial research facility, an Imperial Occupation of Outmian Yakta saw both citizens interrogated and company assets seized. Once it became apparent that a group of insurgents held the data, the prisoners were released in exchange for the data and the company assets restored.

Having eventually rebuilt DSE's reputation, Miss Royce actively distanced DSE from any illegal activities and concentrated on increasing the company's trading avenues, even supplying Imperial forces. The company's logo is seen as far afield as Dantooine on goods as diverse as furniture, clothing, food stuffs, drink, as well as the original exports. The company also acquired a few lucrative contracts including being the Tatooine handling agent for Agak Space Research and Mining Corporation.

The need for an established Squadron soon became apparent, as did the need for a larger Security Unit. Headed up by Squadron Captain Tarrik Sunstrider and Security Chief Drackos Shadat, the men were soon joined by others including Marit Safin and Ixal Dorran. As it's reputation grew so did it catch the eye of those looking for employment in an area that wasn't embroiled in the galactic conflict. Tatooine seen as a haven for those wishing to stay neutral soon saw Outmian become home for many of these sorts, including the Bounty Hunter Melai, the Arms Dealer Qookvat Eed and the Enterprising Mon Calamari Onock Barama.

A New Breed

As the company entered it's second year of trading, Dune Sea Enterprises was a thriving commerce of activity. Outmian Yakta had swelled to become a city in the Dune Sea, it's population surpassing some of the more established cities across Tatooine. With more and more people frequenting the city, the Desert Nights Cantina was always busy. Soon enough this city would attract the sort of people that would normally find employment in the Empire, the Alliance and even Jabba's.

Rhyley Stargazer was one of these people. Having journeyed from Jabba's on the way to Mos Eisley to find a way off planet, a sand storm stopped his journey at Outmian Yakta where by chance he entered the Cantina. From there on his path had changed. Soon enrolled into the Ghost Squadron, Rhyley would establish himself as a hotshot pilot, and one that seemingly had a death wish. He was soon joined by the Sullustan Pilot Abaim Efeiwoi, and the Twi-lek Freighter Expert Atyphe Vrydella.

Another important addition to the Dune Sea Enterprises around this time was the charismatic Private Eye, 'Max Rockatanski. A character often seen with a woman on his arm would soon be given the opportunity to join the Security Detail with DSE. Others that would become frequent patrons were Aniwevei Chreitti, the Bothans Istado and Nasnomei Rerzoo, and the Twi-leks Sentar'a Tengi and Sisett Gi-bosa.

Severing Old Ties

Having distanced itself from its more questionable beginnings and with the company now firmly established as a reputable company, the CEO and Managing Director made a bold move, ending it's ties and protection from Jabba by giving the Hutt Crime Lord a huge pay-off. A bold move given that no-one had before managed to leave Jabba unless through the Sarlacc Pit following him having had his use of them first.

Though the relationship between Jabba and DSE was on of mutual respect and trust. Jabba knew as Caerwynn and Cravon did, that should Outmian be besieged again by an Imperial Garrison, then that would mean trouble in the form of the Empire heading the way of Jabba, also those that would've frequented Outmian Yakta looking for a job that would end in the breaking of numerous laws would then head straight to the Hutt's Palace.

The move was seen as beneficial to both and after a few meetings, Dune Sea Enterprises finally laid rest its ties to Jabba the Hutt, and was a business free to dictate its own future.

A New Era

Change was abound in Outmian Yakta around this time. Security Chief Drackos Shadat had moved on and had been replaced by Ixal Dorran, forming a larger group that now included Esoone and Melai. Tarrik Sunstrider also relinquished his leadership of the squadron to take care of some off planet business, and with the squadron needing an injection of new blood as well as a slight change with how things were done, Rhyley Stargazer was placed in Command.

The young pilot instigated a series of changes, using the company's new direction to re-structure the squadron to mimic something that was more akin to the one used by the RSF and CorSec. As the reputation and service increased, so did the deliveries and efficiency of which the company was able to protect its lanes, oversee and escort freighters and carry out its deliveries in record speed.

This in turn saw more attention placed upon DSE and its staff, a company that even though given the difficulties of the Galactic Civil war was able to provide safety and security in any tasks assigned to it. Times for Dune Sea Enterprises, its Employees, Outmian Yakta and its citizens were good.

Trouble in Corellia

With the influx of ambitious pilots and the increase in trade, the company was taking on more than ever. However this raised profile soon drew the attentions of those looking to tap-in on this rise to prominence. Unbeknown to the company a series of small raids on their transports were planned. However these raids were quickly quashed by the pilots of the reformed Ghost Squadron. One delivery however would strike closer than ever before.

Deciding that it was time to allow his Lieutenant a chance to lead a mission on her own, Commander Stargazer assigned Atyphe Vrydella in charge of a delivery of cargo from Tatooine to Corellia. Leading a crew that including Nasnomei Rerzoo and Sentar'a Tengi, the squadron set out for Corel. Upon landing in Coronet and beginning the unloading of the cargo, Vrydella accompanied by Rerzoo and Head Tech Engineer Bai'yle Norssohn meet with the client at the Cantina. After a brief discussion, and the client praising the speed of the delivery, the pilot trio made their way back to the Starport.

Halfway between the two locations, the three would suddenly come under blaster fire from an unknown source, the shots mainly aimed at Bai'yle Norssohn. Vrydella quickly lead her people safely back to the Starport where they immediately left for home. Arriving back in Outmian, the young Lieutenant debriefed Commander Stargazer as to the happenings of their flight. After being dismissed, Rhyley mauled over the attack, assuming that those that had tried to kill his friends were the same pirates that had been hunting him and Norssohn since his days at the CorSec Academy.

Stargazer Strikes Back

The week following the attack, the Commander spent most of his time using official business as a cover to delve into the murky underworld of Corellia to find out about the squadron’s attackers. Meeting up with an old friend from his Academy days, Jonset, Rhyley and Bai’yle spent as much time as they could gathering Intel on the Pirates using aliases and disguises to stay hidden from further attacks. Dealing with a host of unsavoury characters, the three men began to find a link to those that were responsible for the assault. Eventually returning back home to Outmian Yakta, Rhyley left Norssohn and Jonset to find out as much as they could about the Pirates. His arrival back at Outmian was met by a flourish from those worried about his lengthy disappearance. Knowing that he would need someone to help him and Norssohn, Rhyley decided to include Sunstrider in his plans to attack the Pirates. With uncertainty as to the squadron’s leadership and it’s current direction, Atyphe soon began questioning Rhyley’s every move, unhappy that he seemed to be avoiding her questions she herself began digging into the Commander’s flight records to find out what he had been up to.

Besieging him with her worries and questioning his conduct and behaviour, Rhyley eventually spoke of the truths surrounding his lengthy absence from the squadron. The revelation that he was going to attack the Pirates head on with only Norssohn and Sunstrider as accomplices, seemed to fill the woman with a sense of duty, immediately wanting to go with them. Again the couple began quarrelling over whether the young woman should be allowed to join them. This revelation led to other pilots finding out about what he had planned and insisting their involvement as well. Leaving Outmian Yakta for Kor Vella, Rhyley waited in the shadows of the mighty Starport owned by DSE as Bai’yle, Tarrik, Abaim Efeiwoi, Nasnomei Rerzoo and Sentar'a Tengi soon joined him on planet as expected. Unbeknown to them, their companion Atyphe Vrydella had been kidnapped from her home by the very same pirates they were looking for in the hope of using the female Twi'lek to get Stargazer to adhere to their plans. The Commander forged on with his plan, travelling south to Coronet and with the aid of his pilots, managing to sneak back into the Cantina under the noses of CorSec Agents. Inside he met with Jonset who had only bad news, the Pirates had gone.

Not knowing where the Pirates had moved to, there was a slim chance that one person may know where they had relocated. That one person was Ging Darjeek a former Academy Brat that resented the fact that Stargazer was often overlooked for his mischief whilst a Cadet, and who had now become involved in the underworld, owning a string of Cantinas, the most prominent being at Bela Vistal. Sneaking back out into the forests surrounding Coronet the pilots made their way to Bela Vistal, Rhyley’s old home. Slipping into the exotic mountain resort unnoticed Rhyley used his methods of persuasion to remove the information for Darjeek. Finally he knew where the Pirates were, though they would have to move fast. Travelling back to Kor Vella Rhyley and his companions flew immediately for Talus, in search of a base owned by the Pirates near Narshall. On surface and under the cover of darkness, Rhyley was able to put the abilities of his friends to good use, creeping into positions surrounding the camp before finally assaulting them. The taking of the camp was quickly initiated and met with success; the secrets in the camp however would quickly fill the Stargazer rage to its limit. Inside ensnared in a cell was Atyphe. His blood boiling inside with hate over what the Pirates had done, as soon as Sunstrider had managed to find the co-ordinates of the main camp, Rhyley sped off, stealing one of the Pirate’s speeders heading in the direction of the camp.

Alone and undeterred Rhyley soon found the main base. Scouting around he found the perfect vantage point to see all those in camp. Before him were well over thirty Pirates and the unbelievable sight of a Rancor. Soon joined by the other pilots, as well as beleaguered Atyphe, the group staged a dangerous plan, using an explosion hatched by Atyphe and Sentar’a as a diversion so that Rhyley could lead Abaim and Nasnomei up the beach to attack the Pirates. Overwhelming the Pirates in the chaos, the pilots eventually came face to face with the Rancor. It took all of them to put the huge monstrous beast down, but once they had, they had finished what they came to do. Stargazer and his friends had put an end to the threat of the Shadow Pirates.

Tusken Torment

An increase in Tusken Raider Activity in the Dune Sea had seen the City of Outmian Yakta increase the security of it's boundaries. However a sudden attack by the Sand People managed to cause chaos in the Southern District of the City, breaking through the Droid Security patrolling there and starting a rampage through that part of Outmian. The factories that belonged to Sibie Omiel was the sight of one of the most daring attacks, the buildings and structures there engulfed in flames set by the Tusken Raiders.

Caerwynn Royce quickly put a call out to the towns-people to help defend their city. Numbers gathered at the DSE Office, from Civilians, to wandering Mercenaries and DSE Employees. The counter-offensive was immediately launched to deal with the Tuskens, beginning first in the Southern District and helping to end the fires there. Slowly the towns-people helped push the Tuskens away from Outmian and back to their camps in the deep of the Dune Sea. Do in part to the efforts of Hyrkan and Space, there were no major injuries.

During the counter-offensive, the group also managed to find data which meant pointed that perhaps this attack was not all that it had seemed.
