Introduction
Dune Sea Enterprises is the trading company established by Caerwynn Royce and Cravon Wolfgang towards the end of 2ABY. The company HQ is based in Outmian Yakta on Tatooine and the company has representatives throughout the galaxy.
History
1 ABY - A band of smugglers, lead by Safim Aipiera and Caerwynn Royce approached Jabba requesting permission to settle in the Dune Sea. A deal was worked out where Jabba would receive rent in the form of a share of the profits and the settlers were granted permission. They called themselves the Dune Sea Desperadoes. It wasn't long before an outpost grew up, Outmian Yakta, which became the centre of their smuggling activities. Due to the vast wastes of dunes surrounding them, they were left largely undisturbed by the Empire, a frontier settlement hidden from view. The proximity of the starport at Jabba's Palace allowed easy transportation of smuggled goods.
2-4 ABY
2ABY - Smuggling was highly successful, unfortunately the increased traffic through the starport was beginning to draw attention. As was the growing population and expanding city. Caerwynn Royce, the remaining leader of the smugglers, and Cravon Wolfgang, the Mayor of Outmian Yakta, decided that the best way to continue operations was to establish a trading company and they set up Dune Sea Enterprises.
By 3ABY, the company was well established, it's freighters travelling across the galaxy, importing minerals and ore to a resource depleted Tatooine, foodstuffs and commodities, exporting sand to improve the beaches on other planets and high quality artisan crafted goods, amongst many other products. One of the company's main imports is water, the natural taste being preferred for drinking, over water produced from evaporators. However, most forms of contract are acceptable providing the profit is right.
Assets Seized
Mid 3ABY rumours of DSE's involvement in handling data stolen from an Imperial research facility lead to occupation of Outmian Yakta and the seizure of company assets. The company Directors, along with several employees and citizens, were held for interrogation by the Imperial Inquisition. Once it became apparent that a group of insurgents held the data, the prisoners were released in exchange for the data and the company assets restored.
4ABY - Having rebuilt DSE's reputation, Miss Royce actively distanced DSE from any illegal activities and concentrated on increasing the company's trading avenues, even supplying Imperial forces. The company's logo is seen as far afield as Dantooine on goods as diverse as furniture, clothing, food stuffs, drink, as well as the original exports. The company is also the Tatooine handling agent for Agak Space Research and Mining Corporation, whose CEO is Khemsa-Lanti.
Present Day
5ABY - Drawing increasing interest from other rival companies, DSE has fought off competition from the Black Sun and the Zann Consortium. The tight-knit community that supports the company continues to rally round and protect it's employees. Whilst retaining the title of CEO, Miss Royce has taken more of a back seat within the company. Sibie Omiel has been instated as General Manager and now runs the company on Miss Royce's behalf.
