Exao Gunn was born in 15 BBY in a small town on the planet of Corellia. He had inherited Force sensitivity from his parents, a trait which would lay innately in Exao for his younger life, only ever surfacing ocassionally. Following the completion of a degree at the univerity of Bela Vistal in 6 ABY Exao, along with his partner Aniwevei Chreitti would journey to the Outer Rim to attempt to satisfy a hunger for adventure and to earn a living away from the family business his father and grandfather operated in shipping.

Biography
Growing Up
Newly Born
Exao was born in 15 BBY, in a small town a few kilometres out from the city of Bela Vistal on Corellia. His father, Rogen Gunn, was a freighter pilot who, along with Exao's grandfather, Alath Gunn, ran a family business in transporting goods throughout the Corellian sector. Exao's mother worked as a school teacher in the school in town, teaching History to those attending. As an only child, Exao was the center of attention for his grandparents, all four of whom were anxious to spend time with their newly born grandchild. The young Exao proved himself to be a quick learner, speaking basic words and walking relatively unassisted after a little over half a year following his birth, with his ability to walk causing no end of trouble for even the watchfullness of his parents.
The Young Days
As the baby turned into a toddler, Exao began to show his parents more evidence each day that he was certainly his father's son. He was an adventurous child, perhaps a little too adventurous at times. Throughout his years as a toddler, his grandmother on his father's side, Sarisa Gunn, became increasingly attached to her grandson, often taking Exao out to nursery and to carry out day-to-day chores with her; the time spent together with his grandmother made Exao appreciate the worth of a good family as he aged. He was also shown around the archaeological digsites on which his mother's father, Than'eo, worked on around the planet, something Exao was often reluctant to do, whining about how they were boring and nothing was happening. However, it was when Exao reached the age of five and was first introduced properly to his father's brother that he found his first love in life: flying.
Family Traditions
Uncle Joshua was a smuggler during the days of the Old Republic, but had "retired" after the rise of the Galactic Empire, settling down back on Corellia to work for CorSec . Whilst Joshua had left his past behind him, there were some things he kept, his skill as a pilot was one of these things. He didn't have the best ship in the Galaxy by a long, long way, but Joshua had spent countless hours at the helm of his modified YT-2400 freighter, Bloodstripe; the name deriving from the Corellian award, a homage to the bloodstripe Joshua had received a few years prior to renaming his YT for conspicuous gallantry.
As a present to mark Exao's fifth birthday, Joshua had arranged to take his nephew on a flight through the Corellian system, marking Exao's first ever voyage into space. At first, the experience was strange and alien to Exao, the feeling of not having land beneath him daunting. However, this feeling quickly turned to one of excitement and wonder as Joshua demonstrated exactly what a skilled pilot could do, even in a ship like the Bloodstripe. The flight was short, but instilled a sense of awe in Exao, who wanted to become a pilot like his uncle so that he could fly just as well, if not better than his uncle some day.
Exao also showed more of an interest in Than'eo's work as he grew older, becoming more reserved and quiet as he spent hours trailing around the digsites his grandfather was organising, digging up small pieces of the past one at a time, with his grandfather allowing him to keep some of the relics he uncovered which weren't of value as souvenirs of his time spent on the different digsites. Than'eo would also reaccount stories from the days of the Old Republic, telling a young Exao of the Clone Wars and other events before the rise of the Empire.
Primary
Now that he was five, the time had come for Exao to begin school at the same place his mother taught. Even as a youngster Exao showed he had great academic ability, excelling at school and showing a particular interest in history. The once adventurous and brash toddler turned into a more reserved and shy young boy who prefered to remain indoors or at the digsites of his grandfather when not at school during the day. Despite seeming to have undergone a total change in his personality, Exao was still eager to begin flying like his uncle as soon as he was old enough to be allowed to try his hand at piloting a ship.
Exao would spend a lot of his holidays from school with his father or uncle as they transported goods across the system on their freighters, or would spend time in the small starship hangars his grandfather worked in to maintain the few ships the business owned. Living in such an environment allowed Exao to pick up a variety of different skills in the workshop as he continued to advance through school, his passion and ability for History shining through, much to his mother's pride but often at the expense of his performance in other subjects, which suffered from his almost complete focus on History. Finally, after years of waiting, a now teenage Exao was able to begin learning how to fly under the watchful eyes of Rogen and Joshua.
Teenage Years
Earning Your Wings
From the first time Exao sat at the controls of a starship, it was obvious that he had a natural talent for flying. Sat in the pilot's seat Exao was able to find a new kind of confidence from his ability to control his uncle's YT. Over the course of several months, Exao spent hour after hour with either Rogen or Joshua, learning different techniques and maneuvers in freighters and other, smaller fighters and interceptors. The newfound confidence slowly ebbed its way into other parts of Exao's personality, making the once quiet boy more extrovert and sociable. However, Exao continued to spend much of his time indoors, continuing to explore the digsites of his grandfather whenever he had the chance.
Eventually, Exao was able to gain enough experience and skill in flying that he was able to get his first ship, a refitted Helix-class light interceptor which Alath, Exao's grandfather, had worked on in order to dull down the performance in order to give Exao a chance to fly alone in a ship without posing too much of a risk to himself. To start with, the interceptor was only a fraction of what it could potentially be like, but gradually, as Exao gained more experience, Alath improved the loadout of the ship in order to improve the ship as Exao's skill at flying improved. When it was first given to him, the engine had been significantly downgraded to allow for more highpowered shields and thicker armour to provide better protection, whilst the weapons systems of the ship had been completely removed in order to ensure that no accidents happened with the weapons of the ship.
