Introduction
Tall, muscular, greenscaled and red-eyed, the Trandoshan Harssk Greenscales is an unusual sight - even to fellow Trandoshans.
Background
Harssk's origins are unknown, but he grew up on Sulon among a family of humans. The family's patriarch was a retired marine and passed on the skills of the trade to Harssk. The matriarch of the family, on the other hand, taught Harssk about compassion and respect for others, thus instilling him with a personality somewhat different from the cold and cynical mindset usually associated with Trandoshans. When his foster family perished in an Imperial attack on the village they lived in, Harssk left Sulon and traveled the galaxy hoping to put his commando skills to use.
Personality
The hybrid nature of his upbringing has made him into somewhat of a walking paradox. At the same time he is helpful and polite towards other individuals but also straight to the point and ruthless. He won't hesitate to help those in need, but has no problems taking the lives of those he does not care for.
He is basically a pragmatist and his loyalties lies where the money is, although he has been known to offer his assistance to certain people for free out of pure compassion, as atypical for a Trandoshan as it may seem.
While often the target of anti-Trandoshan prejudice regarding their conflict with Wookiees, Harssk does not support slavery of Wookiees, but does not oppose it either. Unlike most other Trandoshans, Harssk does not feel any particular antipathy towards Wookiees; neither does he feel any particular sympathy with other Trandoshans.
Equipment
In work-related situations, his pragmaticist nature has completely ousted any sense of aesthetics that his foster mother might have tried to instill in him. Thus, his armor is one mishmash of bits and pieces from various armors purchased, looted, given to him or otherwise acquired. He seems to be slightly more aestetically concerned when in civilian attire.
Weapons
He carries an array of weapons including several blaster pistols, rifles and carbines. Harssk appears to prefer ranged combat over melee combat, only owning a few melee weapons, which typically have a ritualistic value to him rather than a practical combat-based value.
Vehicles
His dormant sense of aesthetics also surfaces in relation to his starships and vehicles, which are typically colored red, black or green. Being somewhat of a collector, he has acquired a number of starfighters and vehicles with which he cannot part. His favorite starships are:
- The Firefly
- The Stormbringer
- The Evening Star
- The Starhog
Profession and allegiances
Despite his young age, Harssk sees himself as nothing more than an individual trying to makes his way in a galaxy torn apart by civil war. Even though the Empire killed the only family he ever knew, he does not hold a grudge against them. He has tried to avoid taking sides in the conflict, and has so far managed to remain neutral. Although he has from time to time worked for either side in the conflict, most of his employers are more or less neutral. Thus he has done commando and police work for the RSF and CorSec and has also done more dubious work for criminal organizations. He is also working for the Smuggler Alliance as a pilot, having worked for both Jabba and Valarian as well as Talon Karrde and the Civilian Protection Guild.
"Behind the scenes"
- Harssk Greenscales is played by Harssk and was the first character he created. Harssk figured the Commando class would be a simple enough shoot-and-kill class for a noob to start with, but ended up sticking to this character, slowly developing an RP backstory for it.
- The name "Harssk" is a Doshification of the world "harsk" which in Danish means something along the lines of "harsh", "tough", and "bitter" (when applied to tastes).
- "Greenscales" is a reference to the character's green skin and also to the Blackscales clan which appears in the game.
- No timeline has been specified for this character to enable its participation in as many plots as possible.
- As with all Harssk's characters, the backstory of this character is as down-to-earth as possible in an attempt to keep it free of Mary Sue-esque elements.
