Background
Located on Tatooine near Jabba's Palace, Outmian Yakta started out as a small base of operations for the Dune Sea Desperadoes to work from, in the service of Jabba the Hutt. Originally founded by Ani'a L'o and Safim Aipiera the town has now grown beyond its original scope under the watchful eye of the current mayor, Cravon Wolfgang, to contain a thriving community and host many events. Its location is far enough away from major towns to avoid too much interest from The Empire despite its now more publicly clean appearance it is still very much a town for the Desperadoes. Boasting a well known and busy cantina, the Desert Nights, as well as a hospital and shuttleport, the city continues to attract residents and business.
Outmian Yakta translates from Huttese into Basic as "Outlander City".
History
2ABY - towards the end of this year, the city became home to the newly formed and rapidly expanding Dune Sea Enterprises. Whilst maintaining links with Jabba the Hutt, the company's importing and exporting trade took it further and further out into the galaxy, weakening Jabba's influence.
Imperial Occupation
3 ABY - 3.5:26 Searching for datadisks, believed to hold data regarding experimentation on sentient beings, a detachment of Aurek Company arrived in Outmian Yakta, resulting in the arrest of several citizens suspected of being involved. Those held were Caerwynn Royce, Cyrus Ives, Erisey Casoona, Cravon Wolfgang, Draxia Shadat and Aneef. All were interrogated.
3.5:27 The current Mayor was removed from office amd military rule was imposed on those residents that hadn't managed to escape.
3.5:29 All known assets of Dune Sea Enterprises were seized and the company shut down, temporarily. The city was locked down, with only those granted special passes to arrive and leave.
3.6:01 The planet was blockaded with ISDs overhead, investigations continued, whilst rumours of torture circled the city. If the disks existed, exhaustive seaches turned up nothing. Miss Royce's Wardrobe Mistress, Johida Tavaah reported the disappearance of a ballgown and matching dress slippers, also two pairs of hotpants.
3.6:02 Lothor R'ek was announced as the new Mayor of the city, promising to uphold the law of the New Order.
3.6:04 With the populace gathered, Imperial Inquisitor Barid Badar over saw the prisoners being brought forth for execution for acts of terrorism. Draxia Shadat was beheaded, before the proceedings were interrupted by several explosions, one being an EMP burst. A group of Alliance operatives bargained for the lives of the remaining prisoners. A battle broke out, but the prisoners and Alliance operatives managed to get away.
3.5:07 The uprising was brought to an end by bombardment of the city.
Reconstruction
Sibie Omiel, the city's Inspector of Buildings and Public Works, being a loyal citizen of the Empire was granted permission to rebuild when it was established that there was no evidence of DSE's involvement with the uprising. With the assistance of construction droids borrowed from her father's company, Omiel Industries (Coruscant), she was able to oversee the reconstruction of the city.
By 3.9 ABY, the city was more or less restored to it's former glory.
With the demise of Lothar R'ek, killed in Bestine by someone only identified as wearing composite armour, Cravon Wolfgang was voted back in to office.
Life continued in relative peace in the Western Dune Sea, the residents claiming to be loyal citizens of the Empire.
Second Invasion of Outmian Yakta
Mid 5 ABY - the incumbent Mayor, Cravon Wolfgang resigned, following the after effects of the Third Battle of Yavin and was eventually replaced by Morlain Kaboor who was instated by the Empire. The Outmian Security Force was seconded to the 336th Stormtrooper Platoon and reported to their CO Sava Stary.
Mid/Late 5 ABY - The Battle of Hoth lead to major changes in the city. As the Imperial war machine rolled over Tatooine and chased after the Alliance, the 336th Stormtrooper platoon was dispatched with the Imperial fleet to aid in tracking them down. Just a handful of troopers remained to keep an eye on a city that had gained a reputation as a hotbed of Rebel activity. Promoted to Corporal Raphiel Iridian was tasked with creating a platoon out of his squad, to be known as the 771st.
The Imperial Mayor, Morlain Kaboor, had been sickly for some time and his eventual death and autopsy revealed that he had been poisoned. The city was again without a Mayor, the Crimelords were released from house arrest as the Empire abandoned Tatooine to a power struggle that would have serious repercussions on a city struggling to survive.
The Outmian Security Force was disbanded following a depletion of it's numbers as members were revealed as Rebels. With the need for continued security, the Dune Seas Security Department, or DSEC, was established.
Present Day
6 ABY With a token Imperial presence remaining on Tatooine, at Bestine Garrison, various factions continue to struggle for dominance. A well-protected city offers safety for those passing through and many stay to seek work.
No longer owing allegiance to Jabba, the Hutt now seeks ways to undermine the company that has grown into a galaxy-wide business. Along with other groups also showing less then friendly interest, DSE defends itself and city with no aid from the Empire. Cargoes are hijacked, land transports ambushed and raids on the city continue, life is rarely dull.
Life in the western Dune Sea remains harsh, but the companionship of like-minded people helps to make it bearable.
