Summary
Over 90% of Symeria's surface is covered in water. Long ago the Polar Ice Caps melted and the sea level rose covering most of the land. The only spots of land on the surface are groups of small islands near the planets equator, the largest of which is about 5 miles accross. To counter the lack of land on the planet, Huge floating cities were constructed with enough space for almost 2 million people to live comfortably. All of these cities are interconnected by a series of transport tunnels running along the ocean floor. Symeria is also home to the giant underwater city of atlinto, a city over 20 miles in diameter and home to almost 30 million people. It is here that an extremely rare substance known as Kolto is farmed and sold to eager buyers around the galaxy.
History
In the days of the old republic, Symeria was fiercly loyal to the republic and the jedi. The Confederacy of Independant systems on numerous occasions tried to coerce Symeria into joining them, they wanted the technology used to build the floating cities and the Hypervelocity Guns they were armed with. However a stubborn government swore loyalty to the republic, so the separatists resorted to other methods. They invaded Symeria. The seps first of all sent down transports full of battle droids into the cities and began fighting in the streets. Over the course of 2 weeks, every city fought against the advancing armada and lost. One by one, cities fell and millions of people died. There was only one other option. Stealth operatives infiltrated the sep controlled cities and deliberately sabotaged them, destroying the city and all droids with it. The final act of resistence was to take all available power sources to the capital city of Geldar, and submerge it. So they did, they gathered all available power supplies, and anyone who could be saved, and submerged the city, down to the ocean floor. Geldar was there for over 18 months until the republic had a force big enough to send and liberate the planet.
